Sulfuric Acid Leaks From Tanker Truck In Portland
(Portland, OR) -- No injuries are reported after a tanker truck carrying five-thousand gallons of sulfuric acid started leaking at Hayden Island in North Portland. It happened yesterday. Portland Fire & Rescue had two truck loads of sand delivered to keep the chemical from going into nearby storm drains. Around 100 gallons of the chemical made it to a storm drain before the sand arrived. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and Portland Bureau of Environment Services were notified.
