Grasshopper Fire Grows
(Wamic, OR) -- Firefighters continue their battle to contain the rapidly growing Grasshopper Fire east of Mt. Hood. Officials say the blaze grew by over six-thousand acres on Tuesday. It's now burned 83-thousand acres and is 20 percent contained. Winds caused the fire to remain active. More than 18-hundred firefighters are working to build lines around the fire. The Oregon State Fire Marshal sent two more task forces of local firefighters to protect homes and other structures. Three management teams, including one from Australia and New Zealand, are coordinating the operations.
