NW Metals Contempt Ruling

(Portland, OR) -- A metal recycling business in Portland has been found in contempt of a court order that requires it to comply with Oregon's environmental laws. Northwest Metals has been operating a metal shredder without a valid air permit and violating other environmental laws. A judge signed an order on Wednesday that requires the company to stop shredding operations until it comes into compliance with air, solid waste and stormwater permitting requirements. Northwest Metals has appealed the contempt ruling and is seeking a stay of the ruling that requires the company to stop operations.
