Oregon Joins Lawsuit Over Commercial Driver License Records
(Salem, OR) -- Oregon is joining 21 attorneys general and the State of Pennsylvania in a lawsuit to stop the federal government from getting commercial driver's license records that are owned by the states. The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators is a nonprofit that runs the database on behalf of the states. Records contain the drivers' Social Security number along with other personal data. The lawsuit claims the federal government is breaking privacy law and skipped several required legal steps that include consulting with states.
