Seafood Industry DEQ Rules
(Salem, OR) -- Oregon seafood commodity commissions met with Governor Tina Kotek to discuss wastewater permitting challenges. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality requires testing and processing for metals and chlorine. Seafood processors say they don't add metals or chlorine during their process, but it is added by municipal water supplies they can't control. Removing the chemicals is expensive and would lower the quality of the seafood product. They're asking the Governor to support chemical-free solutions.
