Marion County Mental Health Rules
(Salem, OR) -- Marion County has filed a formal petition with the Oregon Health Authority asking it to reverse a series of rule changes that could endanger staff and residents at licensed mental health residential treatment facilities. They say the rules will delay response to safety threats, put restrictions on managing alcohol use, and reduce flexibility in admissions. In one case, a person using an oxygen tank couldn't be stopped from using a lighter. In another case, residents felt unsafe, because of a patient's aggressive behavior that the rules prevented staff from addressing. Public comments will need to be taken on the petition.
