(Portland, OR) -- Authorities are cautioning residents in Portland neighborhoods where cougars have been recently spotted to stay alert and not to approach the animals. Police in Gresham have confirmed a cougar was spotted Wednesday night near Springwater Trail High School. Officers spotted the cat in a tree when they arrived. The day before, police euthanized a cougar near Wilkes Elementary School. Police remind residents to stay calm and slowly back away when they see a cougar.
