Chemical Tank Inspection Problems

(Longview, WA) -- A federal investigation has found the one-point-two-million-gallon chemical tank at a paper plant in Longview, Washington was in danger of failing. The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board found that a contractor hired by Nippon Dynawave determined the tank's wall was too thin to be in use and would likely fail. Hundreds of thousands of gallons of white liquor spilled from the tank during an implosion earlier this year, killing 11 workers.
