(Burns, OR) -- An emergency rescue is underway to save wild horses in remote southeastern Oregon. Water sources on the Sheepshead-Heath Creek Herd Management Area have dwindled from 63 to just two this year because of drought. There are up to 12-hundred wild horses on the 200-thousand acres. It can only support 900 horses. The Bureau of Land Management plans to move around 500 horses to an off-range facility where they'll be evaluated and some will eventually become available for adoption.
