Oregon State Representative Charged With DUI

(Independence, OR) -- An Oregon State Representative is being charged with driving under the influence. Independence Police responded to a hit and run crash where a vehicle hit a stop sign. Officers found the vehicle parked at a convenience store about a mile away. State Representative Paul Evans told officers he had two drinks over an eight hour period at an Elks Lodge. Evans failed a field sobriety test. Evans' office released a statement saying he takes full responsibility for his actions. He said, as a veteran he struggles with PTSD and used alcohol to cope. He's seeking in-patient treatment.
