(Oregon City, OR)  --  The suspect in the kidnapping of a ten-year-old Canby girl faces attempted murder and sexual assault charges.  Vince Edgar Chavez made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.  Investigators say there were no signs of forced entry into Violet Hay's apartment.  Her 12-year-old sister was violently assaulted and remains hospitalized.  Detectives used Chavez's white van and cell phone to find the house where Hay was restrained in a closet.  Chavez rented a room in the house.  The case will be turned over to a grand jury next week to consider charges.
