(Portland, OR) -- Horrific details are emerging as an Oregon man is indicted for allegedly abducting an Utah teen and holding her hostage. The missing girl, identified by family members as 17-year-old Kylie Arellano of Garden City, was last seen in May of 2025, and was found safe in Oregon more than 500 days later. FBI officials say she was discovered with 39-year-old Adam Harmel, who made his first court appearance today. Records show he drove the girl from Utah to Oregon, threw away her phone and made her remove her own braces with pliers so she wouldn't be recognized. The teen was rescued after reaching out to a young person she met in a gaming forum. Kylie reportedly sent them articles about herself, and said Harmel wouldn't let her leave. The other child told their mother, who contacted the FBI.
