Lumber Company Bookkeeper Embezzlement
Categories: State News
(Portland, OR) -- A bookkeeper for a lumber company in Oregon has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than a million dollars. Christina Klauda worked for Tower Timber Services. Federal prosecutors say she started by overstating her work hours. Eventually, she created a second employee profile to receive duplicate paychecks. One went to direct deposit and the second was a paper check. She also filed false federal tax returns and used the company owner's signature stamp without authorization. The plea requires her to pay restitution.
