Medicaid Cuts Lawsuit

Categories: State News

(Salem, OR) -- Oregon has filed a lawsuit against the federal government over new rules for Medicaid that could cause eligible people to lose coverage. The Oregon Health Plan estimates as many as a third of Medicaid recipients would lose coverage. Full implementation doesn't begin until January, but some states have already rolled out new rules. Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield says people in those states have already lost coverage because they can't keep up with the red tape. His lawsuit alleges Congress and the Trump Administration exceeded their constitutional authority by requiring Oregon to implement the changes.
