(Portland, OR) -- Mayor Charlie Hales says Trader Joe's will not reconsider locating a store on city-owned property in Northeast Portland. Hales met last month in California with Trader Joe's executives in an effort to persuade them to reverse their decision to scrap plans to locate a store on the property. The mayor says he heard yesterday from the company, who said "no" to the proposal. Trader Joe's had planned to build a store on the corner of Northeast Alberta Street and Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, but withdrew the plans in February, citing negative community feedback.
