(Portland, OR)  --  The Oregon football program welcomes fans to the Moshofsky Center for their annual fan day event on Saturday.  Players will be in attendance to sign autographs after their practice session, which is open to the public.  The Ducks will also feature members of other athletic programs at the event.
 



(Corvallis, OR)  --  More than a dozen Oregon State gymnasts have been recognized for their academic success.  13 student-athletes were named Scholastic All-Americans by the NACGC/W.  Two seniors, four juniors, four sophomores and three freshman made up the list of student-athletes who were awarded the honor.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers look to make it 15 straight MLS games without a suffering loss as they welcome the Philadelphia Union to Providence Park on Saturday.  Portland is coming off a 2-1 win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, while Philly knocked off Houston 3-1 on Wednesday.  The Timbers are fourth in the Western Conference with 34 points and Philadelphia is seventh in the East with 27 points.



(Seattle, WA)  --  James Paxton and a pair of relievers combined to pitch a shut out as the Mariners blanked the Astros 2-0 at Safeco Field.  Paxton struck out eight and tossed seven innings of scoreless ball to pick up the win.  Nelson Cruz drove in a two-run double in the sixth and Edwin Diaz locked down his 40th save of the season.  Seattle improved to 63-and-43.



(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks resume training camp today at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton.  Players will get their first off day of camp tomorrow and return to the field on Thursday.  Seattle linebacker Joshua Perry announced his retirement yesterday after suffering his sixth concussion.  The Seahawks signed safety Lorenzo Jerome to fill the roster spot.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Mike Leake will get the start for the Mariners as their series continues with the Astros tonight at Safeco Field.  Houston plans to counter with right-hander Charlie Morton.  Seattle has won two straight to improve to 63-and-43, which is three games behind the first-place Astros in the AL West.  Houston has lost five in-a-row.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners look to strengthen their bullpen by adding a pair of relievers.  Seattle shipped Chase De Jong and Ryan Costello to the Twins for left-handed pitcher Zach Duke.  The M's also acquired right-hander Adam Warren from the Yankees.  Duke has gone 3-and-4 with a 3.62 ERA this season, while Warren has gone 0-and-1 with a 2.70 ERA.



(Phoenix, AZ)  --  The Storm return to the hardwood tonight to visit the Phoenix Mercury.  Seattle has won nine of its last 11 and currently owns the best record in the WNBA at 19-and-7.  The Mercury enter the contest at 15-and-11, which is tied with the Sparks for third in the West.  Phoenix has dropped six-of-seven.
 



(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers have dealt forward Fanendo Adi to FC Cincinnati.  The 27-year-old striker requested a trade last week after his role began to diminish in Portland.  Adi will finish the rest of this season in the USL, but he is expected to suit up for Cincinnati's MLS expansion club next season.  Adi is second on the Timbers all-time scoring list with 54 goals.



(Portland, OR)  --  Fanendo Adi scored the go-ahead goal in his final game with the Timbers as they topped the Houston Dynamo 2-1 at Providence Park on Saturday.  Adi was traded to FC Cincinnati over the weekend.  With the win, Portland extended its MLS unbeaten streak to 14 games.  The Timbers will play host to Philadelphia Union on Saturday.
 



(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks have agreed to a contract extension with left tackle Duane Brown.  The four-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman signed a three-year deal worth 36.5-million-dollars over the weekend.  The Seahawks also cut long snapper Tanner Carew and tight-end Kayaune Ross to make room on the roster for wide receivers Marvin Bracy and Malik Turner.



(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks resume training camp today at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton.  Seattle will hold another practice session tomorrow before players get to enjoy their first off-day of camp on Wednesday.  The Seahawks will wrap up training camp on August 16th.



(Anaheim, CA)  --  Mike Zunino plated three runs for the Mariners as they knocked off the Angels 8-5 in Anaheim.  Zunino's RBI-single in the third inning gave Seattle an 8-0 lead.  Marco Gonzales struck out seven in six innings of work to get the win, while Edwin Diaz notched his 39th save of the season.  The M's snapped a two-game slide.
 



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners welcome the Houston Astros to Safeco Field for a brief two-game series beginning tonight.  James Paxton will take the mound for Seattle, while Houston responds with Gerrit Cole.  The Mariners are second in the AL West at 62-and-43, four games behind the first-place Astros.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners have acquired right-handed pitcher Sam Tuivailala from the St. Louis Cardinals.  Seattle dealt minor league pitcher Seth Elledge to St. Louis in exchange for the 25-year-old reliever.  Tuivailala went 3-and-3 with a 3.69 ERA this season with the Cards.



(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Jewell Loyd poured in 12 points off the bench as Team Parker earned a 119-112 win over Team Delle Donne at the WNBA All-Star Game in Minneapolis.  Breanna Stewart scored 10 points for Team Delle Donne and Sue Bird dished out a team-high eight assists in the losing effort.  The Storm will return to the hardwood tomorrow to take on the Mercury in Phoenix.



The losing skid continues for the Bend Elks, and the harder they try to get a win, the worse it seems to be. Last night the Portland Pickles blanked Bend, 3-to-nothing, scoring their second-straight shutout win and handing the Elks their 12th straight loss.

Bend’s last win was at home back on Friday the 13th, and maybe it was that superstition that cast this losing spell on the team. None the less, Bend continues the homestand tonight and will close out the 4-game series with Portland before welcoming the Wenatchee Applesox tomorrow and Sunday night.

The good news is, the the Westcoast League has awarded the Elks to host the 2019 League All-Star game at Vince Genna Stadium. In 12 years of having the summer showcase in the WCL, it will be the first time Bend has hosted the event.



(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are back on the field today as training camp rolls on.  Seattle held its first practice of camp yesterday at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton.  The Seahawks will open preseason play against the Colts at CenturyLink Field on August 9th.

(Minneapolis, MN)  --  The 15th WNBA All-Star game is set to tip-off on Saturday at the Target Center in Minneapolis.  Storm leading scorer Breanna Stewart will be joined by Sue Bird on Team Delle Donne, while Jewell Loyd suits up for team Parker.  Seattle enters the All-Star break with the best record in the league at 19-and-7.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon has signed top-ranked junior college defensive back Elijah Blades.  The Arizona Western College standout is the fourth four-star prospect to commit to the Ducks this week.  Blades chose Oregon over Alabama, LSU and Miami.



(Hollywood, CA)  --  Pac-12 media day opened up yesterday in Hollywood, California.  Oregon was picked to finish third in the North Division, while Washington was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12 conference title.  The Ducks will look to build on last season as they finished one game above .500 at 7-and-6.



(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks hit the field today for their first practice of training camp at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.  Seattle will hold 13 practice sessions that will be open to the public before camp concludes on August 16th.  Pro-Bowl safety Earl Thomas is expected to hold out in hopes of securing a new deal.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Jean Segura drove in the go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning as the Mariners upended the Giants 3-2 at Safeco Field.  Segura plated two runs and Ryon Healy homered in the winning effort.  Alex Colome got the win and Edwin Diaz notched his 38th save.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Mariners CEO Kevin Mather has apologized for his behavior in the workplace.  Mather had been accused of workplace misconduct on two separate occasions with female employees in the past.  Seattle's CEO has made amends with the victims and now claims to be a better co-worker and leader after learning from his mistakes.



(Anaheim, CA)  --  The Mariners travel to Anaheim to open a three-game series with the Angels tomorrow.  Lefty pitcher Wade LeBlanc is expected to start for the M's, while Los Angeles counters with fellow left-hander Andrew Heaney.  Seattle has won three-of-five on the heels of a four-game losing streak.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Storm head into the All-Star break with the best record in the league.  Seattle has gone 19-and-7 so far this season, which is two-and-a-half games better than the second-place Atlanta Dream.  The Storm will be represented by leading scorer Breanna Stewart along with teammates Sue Bird and Jewell Loyd in the 15th WNBA All-Star game on Saturday in Minneapolis.



The Bend Elks can’t seem to buy a win.

Bend returned home from a trip to Canada and Bellingham and the Elks drop their 10th straight game.

Last night, Portland hammered Bend 14-to-1 to open a 6-game homestand at Vince Genna stadium. Four Elk’s pitchers gave up 20 hits

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon has gained another four-star recruit in the class of 2019.  Junipero Serra High School standout Bryan Addison chose the Ducks after originally committing to local powerhouse UCLA.  According to 247 Sports, the Gardena, California native is the third-ranked athlete in the class.  In other news, class of 2020 recruit Donnovan Moorer decommitted from Oregon.

(Renton, WA)  --  Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has decided to skip training camp.  The six-time Pro-Bowl defensive back will holdout in hopes of securing a long-term deal.  According to reports, Thomas plans to sell his Seattle home and has expressed interest in playing for the Raiders.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Guillermo Heredia homered for the Mariners as they were edged by the Giants 4-3 in Seattle. Denard Span and Ben Gamel each plated a run for the M's, while Edwin Diaz was charged with the loss.  Seattle has dropped six of its last eight.

(Indianapolis, IN)  -- Breanna Stewart poured in 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Storm crushed the Fever 92-72 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.  Sue Bird chipped in with an 11-point, 11-rebound double double effort in the win. Seattle improved to 19-and-7, which is the best record in the WNBA.  The Storm will visit the Mercury on Tuesday.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon Ducks are blazing the recruiting trail with two new commitments for the class of 2019.  Four-star safety and Lanett, Alabama native Trikweze Bridges selected Oregon over local powerhouse Alabama.  Fellow four-star recruit and Calabasas standout wide receiver Mycah Pittman chose the Ducks over Florida.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon four-star center Francis Okoro has reclassified from the class of 2019 and will join the Ducks this season.  Okoro will bolster a star studded recruiting class highlighted by McDonalds All-American Bol Bol.  The Normal, Illinois native chose Oregon over Illinois, Kansas and Missouri.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Ryon Healy homered twice and plated six runs for the Mariners as they dropped the White Sox 8-2 at Safeco Field.  Marco Gonzales gave up two runs across six-and-a-third to get the win.  The M's have won two-of-three.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners have agreed to an extension with manager Scott Servais.  The 51-year-old agreed to a multi-year deal with the M's after his original contract was set to expire at the end of the season.  The M's are currently second in the AL West at 60-and-40.



(Atlanta, GA)  --  Breanna Stewart poured in 31 points as the Storm fell to the Dream 87-74 in Atlanta.  Seattle guard Sue Bird set a WNBA record by playing in her 500th game.  The Storm had their three-game winning streak snapped but still own the best record in the league at 18-and-7.  Seattle will visit the Fever tomorrow.
 



The Elks are still a long way from home tonight as they continue their series with Kelowna. Once the Elks are done with their 3 game set north of the border, they return to U.S soil to play the first place Bellingham Bells. Bend is 11-28 in the Westcoast league and in last place 13 and a half games back of the Bells.
 
Once the Elks finally return home to Bend they will host the Portland Pickles for a 4 game set starting Tuesday the 24th.
 


(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers are protesting their 3-2 loss to LAFC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.  Portland claims that LA broke the U.S. Open Cup rules by playing with six foreign players.  According to the rules, no professional team is allowed to field more than five foreign players.  U.S. soccer has decided to postpone the draw in an effort to review the allegation.


(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers square off against the Montreal Impact tomorrow at Providence Park.  Portland has gone 12 straight games without suffering a loss in MLS play.  The Timbers are currently fourth in the Western Conference with 30 points, while Montreal enters the contest sixth in the East with 27 points.
 


(Portland, OR)  --  A couple Trail Blazers-themed events are coming to the Rose Quarter next month.  The Pup City Walk and Festival and the Rip City Cornhole Tournament will both debut outside the Moda Center in August.  The Pup City Walk and Festival brings together Trail Blazers fans and their dogs to raise money for the Pixie Project.  The Rip City Cornhole Tournament will pit teams against each other for the title of Rip City Cornhole Champions. 


(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners return from the All-Star break tonight as they open a three-game home series with the White Sox.  Lefty Wade LeBlanc will take the mound for Seattle as the M's look to snap a four-game slide.  Chicago counters with James Shields.  The M's are second in the AL West at 58-and-39, five games behind the first-place Astros.  Seattle is three ahead of Oakland for the second AL wild card.


(Uncasville, CT)  --  The Storm return to the hardwood tonight to face the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena.  Seattle has won 11 of its last 14 games and currently owns the best record in the WNBA at 17-and-6.  Connecticut is third in the East at 12-and-11.


(Undated)  --  The NFL is putting its new national anthem policy on hold.  The NFL and players union released a joint statement saying that league and team policies regarding conduct during the anthem will not be issued or enforced for several weeks as part of a standstill agreement.  The NFL approved a new policy in May requiring players and team personnel on the sidelines to stand during the anthem.  Some players have used the anthem as an opportunity to protest police brutality and racial inequality.


The Bend Elks bounced back in to league play in the Westcoast Collegiate summer League on the road last night in Kelowna in British Columbia after the All-Star break, and the game was suspended in the top of the 8th inning because of a sprinkler malfunction.
 
The Elks are behind 8-3 with one out in the top half of the eighth. Just before the malfunction, Sean Coffey singled to load the bases with Chris Diehl coming up to bat. Kelowna did most of its damage in the second inning when the put up a four spot on Bend’s R.J. Robles.
 
Bend plays two more games in B-C tonight and tomorrow, then return across the border to play at Bellingham on Saturday before landing back home Tuesday night.


(Undated)  --  The Hillsboro Hops lost 4-2 to Boise in 10 innings at home.  Salem-Keizer won 6-2 at Eugene.  The Volcanoes moved above .500 with a 17-and-16 record and will host Spokane tonight.  Hillsboro goes on the road, playing tonight in Vancouver, while Eugene is at Tri-City.
 


(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Timbers lost 3-2 to LAFC and were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Banc of California Stadium.  Portland will return to MLS play on Saturday, hosting the Montreal Impact at Providence Park.  The Timbers are fourth in the Western Conference with 30 points.  Montreal is sixth in the East with 27 points.


(Undated)  --  Five-star quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, the nation's No. 1 prospect for 2020, said he would attend an Oregon home game this fall.  He is listed at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds.  He plays at Bellflower, California St. John Bosco High.  Clemson and Oregon rank at the top of his list, but he also is considering Alabama, Florida State, Arizona, Washington and others.


(Undated)  --  Six-time Pro Bowl safety Earl Thomas wrote on his Instagram page: "Extend. If you don't want me, let's make a trade."  His four-year 40-million dollar contract ends after this season.  He skipped all the OTA's and is threatening to not report to training camp if he does not get a new contract.  The team reports July 26th to Renton for camp.


(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners are looking over their shoulders.  The Mariners limped into the All-Star break with four straight defeats and losing eight of 11.  Their lead is down to three games over Oakland for the final AL wild-card berth.  Seattle has not made the playoffs since 2001.  The Mariners will try to turn things around when they return to action tomorrow night against the White Sox at Safeco Field.  Wade LeBlanc starts the series opener for the M's.
 


(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Trail Blazers thumped the LA Lakers 91-73 to win the NBA Summer League championship in Las Vegas.  K.J. McDaniels scored a game-high 17 points for Portland and was named the MVP of the championship game.  Wade Baldwin contributed 14 points and six assists and was selected to the All-Summer League second team.   John Jenkins finished with 12 points as six Blazers scored in double figures.  The Blazers never trailed and led by as many as 24 points.  Portland went 7-and-0 in Vegas.



(Los Angeles, CA)  --  The Timbers are still in Los Angeles.  Portland and the LA FC played to a scoreless tie on Sunday in a MLS Game.  The two teams will meet again tonight in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Banc of California Stadium.  Portland has not lost in its last 12 games.



(Undated)  --  The Hillsboro Hops scored three runs in the 10th to walk off Boise 6-5.  Jorge Perez delivered a two-run walk-off single.  The Hops lead the Northwest League with a 22-and-10 record.  Salem-Keizer won 6-2 in Eugene.  The Volcanoes evened their record at 16-and-16.  The Emeralds dropped to 11-and-21.



(Washington, D.C.)  --  Mariners shortstop Jean Segura hit a three-run pinch homer in the eighth inning to help the American League All-Stars beat the National League 8-6 in 10 innings in D.C.  Seattle closer Edwin Diaz blew a save, giving up a two-run homer in the ninth, but picking up the win when the AL scored three runs in the 10th.  Mariners reserve right fielder Mitch Haniger went 0-for-2, while Nelson Cruz walked as a pinch hitter.

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Trail Blazers will meet the Atlanta Hawks tonight in the opening round of the Las Vegas Summer League playoff round.  The Blazers went 3-and-0 in the prelim stages and are one of four unbeaten teams.  The Hawks are 2-and-2 after beating the Pacers yesterday.



(Anaheim, CA)  --  Marco Gonzales gave up two singles over seven innings as the Mariners shut down the Angels 3-0 in Anaheim.  Gonzales picked up his 10th win, while Edwin Diaz pitched a spotless ninth for his major league-leading 36th save.  David Freitas hit his first big league home run, while Nelson Cruz ripped a two-run single in the Seattle fourth inning.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will try to extend their unbeaten string to 12 games this weekend.  They will play Sunday at Los Angeles.  Portland nipped the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 at Providence Park last weekend.  The Timbers are tied for fourth in the MLS West with 29 points, while LAFC is second with 34 points.
 



(Anaheim, CA)  --  Lefty James Paxton will start tonight for the Mariners tonight in the series finale against the Angels in Anaheim.  LA will counter with Tyler Skaggs, who will come off the disabled list after dealing with a groin strain.



(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks will open training camp on July 26th at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton.  All 13 open training camp practices have sold out.  Seattle will host the Indianapolis Colts in its exhibition opener on August 9th.



(La Verne, CA)  --  Former Oregon State star defensive back Brandon Browner has been charged with attempted murder.  He was indicted on attempted murder after allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend.  He was also indicted by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office for robbery, burglary and false imprisonment.  The 33-year-old has been arrested at least four times in the past 12 months.  Browner was a member of the Seahawks that won the 2014 Super Bowl and the Patriots that won the 2015 Super Bowl.



The Bend Elks continue their road trip across the northern border in Vancouver, British Columbia last night taking on Victoria, and the Harbor Cats grab a walk-off win over Bend in the bottom of the 10th inning, 5-4.

It’s the 4th loss in a row for the Elks who play tonight at 635, and tomorrow in B-C, then return home Friday night to host the Yakima Valley Pippins. You can follow the Elks online broadcasts at ‘Bend Elks dot Com.’



The Oregon Ducks have hired a new Head Women’s Softball Coach after Mike White left Eugene for Texas after 9-seasons. Oregon signed longtime Oklahoma Assistant Coach & Pitching specialists Melyssa Lombardi who has been a part of 4 national Titles in 21 years in Norman.
The Sooners made the Women’s College World Series 12 times while Lombardi mentored and developed the pitching and catching staffs.

White reportedly signed a 5-year, $2-million dollar deal with Texas. Lombardi made nearly $200,000 thousand dollars at OU, but no contract terms have been released. She will officially be introduced as the Ducks new Coach Monday in Eugene at Jane Sanders Complex.
 



(Las Vegas, NV)  --  Second-round pick Gary Trent Junior came off the bench to score a game-high 20 points as the Trail Blazers beat the Spurs 95-89 in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League.  Wade Baldwin led Portland starters with 16 points, nine assists and five steals.  Jake Layman contributed 15 points and eight rebounds.  Portland finished the preliminary round with a 3-and-0 record and will await playoff seedings to see who it faces next.



(Anaheim, CA)  --  Mitch Haniger hit a three-run homer in the first, but the Mariners offense went silent after that in a 9-3 loss to the Angels in Anaheim.  Mike Leake was the losing pitcher, yielding seven runs on 11 hits over four innings.  Seattle has dropped four of its last six.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will try to extend their unbeaten string to 12 games this weekend.  They will play Sunday at Los Angeles.  Portland nipped the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 at Providence Park last weekend.  The Timbers are tied for fourth in the MLS West with 29 points, while LAFC is second with 34 points.

(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Blazers will face the San Antonio Spurs in a matinée today at Cox Pavilion in the Las Vegas Summer League.  Portland is 2-and-0 to open the three-game preliminary round.  Portland's big man Zach Collins sprained his right ankle in the third quarter Sunday and did not return in the victory over the Atlanta Hawks.  X-rays were negative.

(Seattle, WA)  --  Ryon Healy hit the go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning as the Mariners edged the Rockies 6-4 in Seattle.  Healy also drove in a pair with a double and finished with five RBI.  Wade LeBlanc tossed six frames of four-run ball to earn the win and Edwin Diaz locked down his 35th save.  Seattle is second in the AL West at 57-and-34 overall.
 



(Portland, OR)  --  Samuel Armenteros scored a pair of goals for the Timbers as they clipped the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 at Providence Park on Saturday.  Portland extended its unbeaten streak to 11 games, which is the longest stretch by any team in the MLS this season.  The Timbers will visit LAFC on Sunday.  Portland is tied with Real Salt Lake for fourth in the Western Conference with 29 points.



(New York, NY)  --  A trio of Mariners are headed to the All-Star Game.  Nelson Cruz was named to the AL roster yesterday.  He will be joined by Mitch Haniger and Edwin Diaz.  Jean Segura is up for the Final Vote.  The 89th All-Star game is next Tuesday in D.C.

(Portland, OR)  --  Free-agent guard Seth Curry is coming to Rip City.  ESPN reports that the younger brother of two-time MVP Stephen Curry, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Trail Blazers worth 5.6-million dollars.  The 27-year-old averaged a career-best 12.8 points with the Dallas Mavericks in the 2016-17 season.  A stress fracture in his left leg caused him to miss all of last season.

(Brooklyn, NY)  --  Former Blazers forward Ed Davis is taking his talents to Brooklyn.  Davis has agreed to a one-year, 4.4-million-dollar deal with the Nets.  Davis averaged 5.3 points and 7.4 rebounds for Portland last season and had spent the past three seasons with the Blazers.
