(Undated)  --  A new report says the Seattle Seahawks are unlikely to sign free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick.  Former NFL assistant coach and executive Pat Kirwan, who now works for Sirius XM NFL Radio, reports he doesn't expect Kaepernick to be signed by the Seahawks.  Kirwan is a longtime colleague of Seattle head coach Pete Carroll.  The "Seattle Times" reports Kaepernick visited the Seahawks last week with fellow free agent quarterback Austin Davis.



(Undated)  --  The 2017 NCAA Baseball tournament gets underway tomorrow.  The Stanford Regional will play a set of games with Cal State Fullerton meeting BYU and host Stanford battling Sacramento State.  The Corvallis Regional starts on Friday.  The Beavers will host Holy Cross while Nebraska and Yale face off in the other game.  Oregon State is the number-one overall seed for the second time in four years.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers are off until Friday when they welcome the San Jose Earthquakes to Providence Park.  The Timbers are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Seattle over the weekend.  At 5-3-and-5, Portland sits in fifth-place in the Western Conference.



(Oklahoma, City, OK)  --  The Ducks are set to take on the Washington Huskies at the Women's College World Series tomorrow in Oklahoma City.  Oregon punched its ticket with a Super Regional victory over Kentucky.  The Ducks have won 13 of their last 18 against the Huskies, but lost the series to UW this season.



(Sugar Grove, IL)  --  The Oregon Ducks golf team is on to the NCAA final for the second consecutive year.  The Ducks defeated Vanderbilt at Rich Harvest Farms to punch their ticket.  Standing in the way between fifth-seeded Oregon and a second consecutive NCAA title is second-seeded Oklahoma.  The championship tees off today at 1:00 p.m. in Sugar Grove.
 



(Denver, CO)  --  The Mariners are on a three-game winning streak after defeating Colorado, 10-4.  Kyle Seager drove in four runs including a two-run homer in the second inning yesterday and Robinson Cano had a solo home run in the seventh.  Seattle pitcher Ariel Miranda earned his fifth win of the year.  The Mariners and Rockies will start a two-game series at Safeco Field tonight.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Oregon State Beavers may have solidified the quarterback position for years to come.  Three-star quarterback recruit Spencer Petras has decided to take his talents to Corvallis.  Petras committed to the Beavers over offers from Cal, Fresno State and Louisville among others.
 



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State is the number-one overall seed and a regional host in the 2017 NCAA baseball tournament.  Oregon State wrapped up a 49-and-4 regular season over the weekend.  The mark is the best record in the program's history.  The Beavers will open regional play on Friday against number-four seed Holy Cross in Corvallis.  Third-seeded Nebraska and four-seed Yale will also play Friday to kick off the double-elimination regional.  This is the second time in four years OSU has earned the overall top-seed in the tourney.
 



(Denver, CO)  --  The Mariners will go for their third straight win tonight after handing the Colorado Rockies a 6-5 loss.  Seattle starter Sam Gaviglio picked up his first major-league win, giving up five runs on six hits over five innings.  Kyle Seager drove in two runs for the Mariners.  The M's and Rockies will play again tonight in Denver.

(Washington, DC)  --  The Seattle Mariners are hoping to start a new winning streak, after taking a 4-1 road victory over Washington.  Nelson Cruz smacked a three-run home run in the sixth inning of yesterday's game to put Seattle ahead for good.  Ariel Miranda picked up the win, allowing two runs on three hits over five innings.  The Mariners will start a three-game set at Boston this evening.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Former Portland Trail Blazer Brandon Roy has accepted the head coaching position at his alma mater, Garfield High School in Seattle.  Roy coached Nathan Hale High School to an undefeated season and Class 3A Washington state championship this school year.  Roy was named Naismith High School Coach of the Year.  Roy starred for Portland from 2006-2011 before knee injuries ended his career early.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Luke Heimlich tossed eight shutout innings as top-ranked Oregon State blanked Abilene Christian, 9-0, in Corvallis.  Preston Jones finished 2-for-3 with three RBI.  Game two of the four-game series is tonight at 5:35 p.m.  This is the final regular season series for OSU.
 



(Seattle, WA)  --  The defending MLS Cup champs will host 2015's MLS champions tomorrow when the Seattle Sounders play the Portland Timbers at CenturyLink Field.  The home team has won the last five games of the Cascadia Cup series.  The Timbers, who haven't won a match since April 22nd, are coming off a 4-1 loss to Montreal last Saturday, while Seattle took a 1-0 win at home over Real Salt Lake.  Tomorrow's match is set to start at noon.
 



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Portland Timbers clash with regional rival Seattle Sounders FC tomorrow at CenturyLink Field.  Portland is currently fifth in the West with 18 points, while Seattle is eighth with 13.  Diego Chara won't play due to a one-game suspension he received as a result of a red card he earned last Saturday versus Montreal.  Tomorrow's match is the first of three with Sounders FC this season.



(Portland, OR)  --  Blazers guard Pat Connaughton is reportedly considering a pro baseball career. The 6-foot-5 guard was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round of the 2014 MLB Draft and they still own his rights.  He told MLB Network Radio earlier this week that he wasn't going to "unrealistically chase a dream if it is getting farther away," while referring to his basketball career.  He averaged 2.5 points in 39 games for Portland last year, and his contract for 2017 isn't guaranteed.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Portland Timbers clash with regional rival Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday at CenturyLink Field.  Portland is currently fifth in the West with 18 points, while Seattle is eighth with 13.  Saturday's match is the first of three with Sounders FC this season.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick worked out for the Seattle Seahawks yesterday, according to multiple reports.  Seattle is the first team to publicly acknowledge interest in Kaepernick since the end of the 2016 season.  The market for Kaepernick's services have been almost non-existent this offseason after he made headlines last year for protesting inequality by kneeling for the national anthem.  He threw for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2016.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Top-ranked Oregon State opens the final series of the regular season today as they host Abilene Christian in the first of a four-game set.  The Beavers are 45-and-4 entering the series and have already wrapped up the Pac-12 regular season title.  First pitch is at 5:35 p.m. from Coleman Field.



(Washington, DC)  --  The Mariners are on a five-game losing skid, after falling last night to the Washington Nationals, 5-1.  Rookie starter Sam Gaviglio had a rough outing for Seattle, giving up five runs on six hits over six innings.  Robinson Cano went three-for-four for the M's with an RBI.  The two teams will finish up their three-game series beginning at 9:05 this morning.



(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon Ducks softball team clashes with Kentucky tomorrow in game one of their NCAA Super Regional in Eugene.  The winner of the three-game series will advance to the College World Series in Oklahoma City.  The Ducks are 50-and-6 on the year and are riding a 13-game win streak.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  The top-ranked Oregon State Beavers welcome Abilene Christian to close out the season with a four-game set starting tomorrow in Corvallis.  Oregon State baseball has spent more than half the college baseball season as the consensus number-one team in the country.  The Beavers hold a 45-and-4 record overall, 27-and-3 in conference.
 



(Orlando, FL)  --  Shock and sadness continue around the sports world following the death of Seahawks legend Cortez Kennedy.  Kennedy was found dead yesterday at his Orlando home at the age of 48.  The cause of death hasn't yet been determined.  Kennedy was drafted third overall by Seattle in 1990.  In 2012, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and his number was retired by the Seahawks.



(Eugene, OR)  --  Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Terry Wilson Jr. is transferring.  He announced in a tweet Tuesday afternoon that he has signed with Garden City Community College of Kansas.  The former four-star recruit took part in the first week of spring drills in April and took repetitions with the Ducks' second-team offense before opting to transfer.

Finally this morning…former Oregon Duck runningback Thomas Tyner is coming out of medical retirement after a 2 year layoff. The Aloha high school graduate has signed on to play for the Beavers.

Tyner, a former 5-star recruit who rushed for 12-hundred yards in his first two seasons with the Ducks has dealt with left shoulder injuries ever since. Oregon State has not officially announced he has joined the program. NCAA rules prohibit players who retire because of injuries to rejoin their former team.
 



For the 9th straight week, Oregon State remains the nation’s number one rated college baseball team posting a school record 44-and-4 mark overall with 4 non-league games to play this weekend closing out the regular season. Two weeks ago, the Beavers clinched their 3rd League crown in 5-years.

Elsewhere, Oregon defeated U-C Riverside last night in southern California, 10-6. The Ducks are 29-and-23 overall and finish up the season hosting UCLA starting Thursday night.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seattle Mariners are calling up catcher Mike Zunino and relief pitcher Emilio Pagan from Triple-A Tacoma as they get ready to embark on an eight-game road trip.  Zunino hit .293 in 12 games with the Rainiers, with two doubles, five homers, and eleven RBI.  Pagan made ten relief appearances with Tacoma, and has a record of 1-and-0 with two saves and an ERA of three-point-24.  Seattle is also expected to activate Robinson Cano from the disabled list before this evening's game with Washington.



(Eugene, OR)  --  Number-three Oregon is advancing to the NCAA softball super regional for the eighth straight year.  The Ducks beat Wisconsin 9-0 to win their regional at Jane Sanders Stadium.  The Ducks improved to 50-and-6.  They will host Kentucky in an NCAA super regional starting on Friday.



The Summit girl’s track & field team claimed its unprecedented 11th straight OSAA State Championship over the weekend in Eugene at legendary Hayward Field.

For the second straight year, Summit and Bend finish 1-2 on the girls side, while Summit’s boys team won the 5A Title and Ridgeview finished 7th overall. IN the 4A class, Crook County finished 4th place. In the 3A ranks, La Pine’s boys placed 8th, and the lady Hawks 9th. Culver finished 8th in the 2A girls competition.

Summit boys win the 5A Tennis Title again for the 4th straight year, and their 7th overall. The Storm’s Carter Quigley won the Boy’s Singles Title.
 



On the prep diamonds…4 boys teams and only 2 softball teams advance to this weeks OSAA State playoffs. On Wednesday the 1st round baseball pairings sees 8th ranked Bend hosting #9 Thurston, and 5th ranked Wilsonville hosting Summit.

In the 4A ranks…third rated Sisters entertains #14 Cascade. In the 3A division, 2nd ranked La Pine entertains Joseph.

Also Wednesday will be the girls Softball first round with 4th ranked Ridgeview hosting Churchill, and in the 4A playoffs, #6 Crook County entertains North Bend.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Top-ranked Oregon State set a Pac-12 record with its 14-3 victory over Washington State at Goss Stadium.  The Beavers won their 27th conference game, breaking the record of 26 set by Arizona State in 1981.  The Beavers are 45-and-4 overall, tying the school record for most victories in a season. Oregon State won all 10 conference series and swept seven.  Nick Madrigol homered and had five RBI against Washington State.
 



#1 Beavers sweep Washington State 3-straight games beating the Cougars by a combined 23-to-6 run count. The Cougars are coached by former OSU Assistant Coach Marty Lees and have two central Oregon graduates on the team in J.D. Hair of Sisters and Cal Waterman from Summit.

Oregon State is 44-and-4 overall and will host Abilene Christian in a non-league 4-game series starting Thursday night in Corvallis to end the regular season.

Oregon ended its 6 game losing streak Friday night beating USC in L-A, and taking 2 out of 3 from the Trojans winning yesterday, 3-2. The Ducks are 28-and-23 and play a non-league game at U-C Riverside today at Noon, then Oregon closes out the year hosting UCLA Friday night.

Meantime…the 3RD ranked Oregon women’s Softball team won its 13th straight game beating Wisconsin yesterday, 9-zip to win the Eugene Regional in 3-games. The Ducks are 50-and-6 and will host Kentucky in the Supers this weekend in a best of 3-game series.

Oregon State was eliminated in two straight games in the Waco, Texas Regionals losing to James Madison and Kent State.

(Montreal, Québec)  --  The Timbers played a man short for most of the game in a 4-1 loss to the Impact Saturday in Montreal.  Diego Chara struck a Montreal player in the face and given a red card in the 18th minute.  That forced Portland to play the remainder of the game with 10 men.  Diego Valeri's header scored the lone Portland goal.  The Timbers are 5-and-3 and-4 in the MLS.  They are in fifth place in the Western Conference with 18 points.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Running back Thomas Tyner is leaving Oregon for Oregon State.  He took a medical retirement in February 2016 after a shoulder injury.  He was granted his release Saturday from Oregon.  He immediately talked to Beavers coach Gary Anderson about transferring to OSU.  He was a five-star recruit out of high school.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners are off today after losing three of four games in a home series with the White Sox.  Seattle is in dead last in the AL West after yesterday's eight-to-one loss to Chicago.  Nelson Cruz accounted for the M's only run, with a solo homer in the 7th inning.  Seattle will begin a three-game road series tomorrow afternoon with the Washington Nationals.
 



The 41st US bank Pole Pedal & Paddle event takes to Bend tomorrow morning at 9am from Mt. Bachelor to the Les Schwab Amphitheater. Andrew Boone is the defending Men’s Champion and Zoe Roy the women’s winner last year.



(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard was not named to any of the 2016-2017 All-NBA teams despite averaging 27 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists for Portland last year.  Lillard was a second-team All-NBA selection last year.  The guards that did make the teams include DeMar DeRozan, John Wall, Steph Curry, Isaiah Thomas, Russell Westbrook and James Harden.



Second to last weekend in League play in the Pac-12 and #1 rated Oregon State hosts the Cougars for a 3-game series at Goss Stadium-Coleman Field beginning today at 405, first pitch, and televised on the Pac-12 Network and streaming audio online at O-S-U Beavers dot Com

The Beavers already clinched the League Title and take a 42-and-4 record into the weekend hosting Washington State.

Today, the lady Ducks softball team ranked #1 in the ESPN Poll entertain the Eugene Regionals with Oregon meeting Illinois-Chicago in their first game at 830pm on Campus in Eugene. The Ducks are 47-and-6.



The prep State Track & Field Championships begin today at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene where the Summit Storm girls gun for an 11th straight State Title. The Finals are tomorrow. Yesterday, Culver’s
Caty-lynn Duff broke the 2A state record in the discus throw on her second heave of the day.

And…the Tennis State Finals begin today at Portland Tennis Club, Tualatin Hills, and at Oregon State University.

ON THE DIAMOND…IMC champion Bend awaits the OSAA 1st round playoffs Wednesday. Meantime, Summit and Mt. View try to play their way in to the bracket today when the Storm host Sandy, and the Cougars travel to Hillsboro. Win, and you’re in.   

Churchill is ranked #1, Crater 2nd, followed by Crescent Valley, La Salle and Wilsonville make up the top-5. There is no IMC team in the top-10 this year after Summit won it all last spring. Bend is 13th and the Storm ranked 14th heading to the postseason today.

In prep Softball matchups, Bend hosts Parkrose this afternoon and Mt. View travels to Sandy. Ridgeview hosts a 1st round Playoff game as IMC Champs on Wednesday.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State forward Drew Eubanks is coming back to Corvallis for his junior season. Eubanks has withdrawn his name from the 2017 NBA Draft before next Wednesday's deadline.  The 6-foot-10 big man averaged 14.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks for the Beavers last year.  He joins guard Stephen Thompson, who also withdrew from the draft earlier this week.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Oregon State baseball team closes out Pac-12 action today as they host Washington State.  The three-game series is the last conference set of the year.  Number-one ranked OSU is 42-and-4 overall and 24-and-3 in the Pac-12.  First pitch is at 3 p.m.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers visit the Montreal Impact tomorrow as the MLS season continues.  Portland is fourth in the Western Conference with 18 points and played to a draw with Atlanta United its last time out last Sunday.



On to college baseball where things aren’t getting any better in Eugene and there is some speculation as to how long George Horton keeps his job leading the Ducks. Oregon dropped its 7th straight game losing to Loyola Marymount, 4-to-nothing in a non-league game in Eugene.

Oregon falls to 26-and-22 and has 7 games remaining including a 3-game Pac-12 series at USC starting tomorrow. The Ducks were picked to finish 4th place and are 9th place and would have to win their remaining games to be considered for the NCAA Regionals.

The lady Ducks softball team, on the other hand, however take over the #1 ranking in the USA Softball-ESPN Poll, and are rated third in the NCAA Coaches poll. Oregon’s women host the Eugene Regional beginning tomorrow and the Ducks, 47-and-6, meet Illinois-Chicago in their first game tomorrow night at 830pm at the new ‘Jane’…Jane Sanders Stadium on campus next to Mac Court.
 



The prep State Track & Field Championships begin today at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene where the lower level classification schools begin the preliminaries. The 4A through 6A schools take to Hayward tomorrow and the Summit Storm girls are hunting for their 11th consecutive State Title. Last year, Summit and Bend finished 1-2.

Meantime…the Tennis State Finals begin today at Portland Tennis Club, Tualatin Hills and at Oregon State University. Summit senior Carter Quigley is the boys top seed, and Summit’s Autumn Layden is the #3 seed on the girls side.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners are enjoying a series win after shutting out Oakland, 4-0.  Nelson Cruz and Jean Segura each drove in two runs last night, and Segura extended his hitting streak to 16 games.  Christian Bergman gave up only two hits over seven-and-a-third innings and had nine strikeouts.  Seattle will begin a four-game series with the White Sox tonight at Safeco Field.
 



(Corvallis, OR)  --  The top-ranked Oregon State baseball team closes out Pac-12 action tomorrow as they host Washington State.  The three-game series is the last conference set of the year.  OSU is 42-and-4 on the year and is ranked number-one in the country for the eighth week in-a-row.



(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Former Oregon Duck LeGarrette Blount is signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.  The one-year deal is worth up to 2.8-million-dollars.  Blount ran for a career-high 1,161 yards and 18 touchdowns last season for the New England Patriots.  The 30-year-old has 5,122 rushing yards and 49 TD's in 100 career games after playing his college ball at Oregon in 2008-2009.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers visit the Montreal Impact on Saturday as the MLS season continues.  Portland is fourth in the Western Conference with 18 points and played to a draw with Atlanta United its last time out last Sunday.



(Eugene, OR)  --  Former Oregon men's basketball assistant coach Robert McCullum is leaving for a head coaching opportunity.  McCullum has been named head coach at Florida A&M University.  McCullum has served as Oregon's assistant director of operations for the past three seasons.



The Summit boys Golf team captured its third straight prep State Title yesterday at Quail Valley Golf Course. The Storm won the 2-day tournament by 25-shots. Ridgeview’s Isaac Buerger won the Individual Championship shooting 4-over par to win Medalists honors by 5-strokes.

Summit’s girls finished third place ending their run of 8-straight team titles. Wilsonville won the 5A Title. The Storm finished 8 shots better then Bend who tallied a 4th place team finish. Summit’s Olivia Loberg finished
Co-Champion tied with Haley Greb of Pendleton at 5-over par.

The prep State Track & Field Championships begin tomorrow at legendary Hayward Field in Eugene. And, the State Tennis finals are served up tomorrow, as well.

(New York, NY)  --   The NBA Draft Lottery went down yesterday in New York.  The Celtics came away with the top-overall pick.  The Blazers have been linked to Oregon guard Dillon Brooks.  Portland owns the 15th, 20th and 26th overall picks in this year's draft, which takes place June 22nd.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners and A's are split in their three-game series so far following Oakland's 9-6 win at Safeco Field.  A five-run ninth inning enabled Oakland to secure last night's win.  Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager each had a solo home run for Seattle.  The Mariners and A's will wrap up the series tonight.



(Keizer, OR)  --  Oregon State baseball picked up a 7-1 win at Portland.  The Beavers improved to 42-and-4.  They begin their final conference series of the regular season with the first of three versus Wazzu in Corvallis on Friday.  The Ducks host Loyola Marymount tonight.



(Undated)  --  The Oregon State and Oregon softball squads are playing on.  The Ducks and Beavers each are headed to the 2017 NCAA softball tournament, with Oregon hosting a first-round regional for a sixth consecutive year.  After a second-place finish in the Pac-12, the Ducks earned a number-three national seed.  The Beavers will play in a Waco, Texas regional hosted by number-15 Baylor.

IF the Cougars win today, Bend and Summit share the IMC pennant, but the Lava Bears secure the #1 seed for the Playoffs by virtue of winning the season series over the Storm. Both Summit and Mt. Beaver Head Coach Pat Casey notched his 1,000th career win on Friday night beating Oregon. Oregon State plays a non-league game tomorrow night against the University of Portland in Keizer. then closes out its regular season hosting Washington State this weekend.

Oregon has lost 6 straight and drops to 9th place in the Pac-12 with a
26-and-21 record. The Ducks host Loyola Marymount Wednesday night in a non-league game.

Meantime…the 3RD ranked Oregon women’s Softball team won its 10th straight game Saturday sweeping Stanford in a 3-game series to close out the regular season.

The lady Ducks finish 2nd Place in the Pac-12 and have a 47-and-6 overall record heading in to the NCAA Regionals this weekend. Oregon will host 3 other teams and will face off with Illinois-Chicago Friday, and Wisconsin meets Missouri. Oregon State will travel to Waco, Texas to face James Madison.



(Portland, OR)  --  Liam Ridgewell scored the tying goal in the 50th minute as the Timbers fought to a 1-1 draw against Atlanta United FC at Providence Park.  Atlanta scored in the 46th minute on a low shot by Julian Gressel.  The Timbers earned a point and now have 18 on the year.  Three teams are tied for first place win the West with 19 points.  Portland visits Montreal on Saturday.
 



(Chicago, IL)  --  The NBA Combine has come to a close in Chicago, and four Ducks players were on hand to showcase their talents for scouts.  The Blazers were present looking for new players and have been linked to Oregon guard Dillon Brooks.  Portland owns the 15th, 20th and 26th overall picks in this year's draft, which takes place June 22nd.



(Eugene, OR)  --  The top-ranked Beavers baseball team earned a three-game sweep of the Ducks this past weekend.  OSU capped the series with a 1-0 win Saturday night in Eugene.  The Beavers improved to 41-and-4 overall.  They'll host Portland tomorrow.



(Eugene, OR)  --  In game one of a three-game Civil War series in Eugene, top-ranked Oregon State came away with a 6-1 win over the Ducks last night.  Luke Heimlich tossed six innings of one-run ball to get the win, his eighth.  Adley Rutschman and Michael Gretler homered for the Beavers.  Game two of the series begins tonight at 7 p.m.



(Los Angeles, CA)  --  Former Blazers forward Zach Randolph was spotted in Los Angeles yesterday wearing a Blazers hat.  Randolph played for Portland from 2001 through 2007, but has been with Memphis for the past eight years.  The 35-year-old Randolph averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds this year and is scheduled to become a free agent this summer.



(Portland, OR)  --  Blazers guard Allen Crabbe is expected to be ready for the regular season after undergoing surgery on his left foot.  Crabbe was dealing with a stress reaction and missed the final three games of the regular season and was limited in the playoffs.  Crabbe is one year into four-year, nearly 75-million-dollar deal.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers play host to the Atlanta United FC on Sunday at Providence Park.  Portland is third in the Western Conference with 17 points, one point behind FC Dallas and Sporting KC.  Atlanta United has 11 points.  The Timbers lost to San Jose, 3-0, their last time out on Saturday.
 



(Toronto, ON)  --  The Mariners will try to get back into the win column tonight when they resume their four-game series with the Blue Jays.  Toronto earned a 7-2 win over Seattle last night, with former Mariner Justin Smoak contributing a solo homer in the seventh inning.  Nelson Cruz accounted for Seattle's scoring with a two-run shot in the first.  The two teams will play again this evening in Toronto.



On the prep diamond…The IMC Baseball race comes down the stretch run with just 1-game separating Bend, Summit, and Mt. View for the League pennant.

Yesterday, Bend edged Ridgeview, 3-2 and Summit blanked Redmond, 6-zip. The Storm and Lava Bears share 11-and-3 league records while the Cougars, who are idle today, are 9-and-4.

Tomorrow, Bend entertains Summit in a must-win game for the Storm to force a season series tie. Then Saturday, Summit plays at Mt. View, and Monday the regular season comes to a close with the IMC Title on the line when Mt. View entertains the Storm.
 



(Eugene, OR)  --  The top-ranked Oregon State Beavers baseball team clashes with the Oregon Ducks tonight to open a three-game series in Eugene.  The 38-and-4 Beavers have been the number-one team in the country for the past seven weeks.  The Ducks are 26-and-18.  OSU's magic number to clinch the Pac-12 title is two.  First pitch is at 6 p.m.

(Undated)  --  The NBA Combine is underway in Chicago, and four Oregon Ducks are present.  Jordan Bell, Chris Boucher, Dillon Brooks and Tyler Dorsey are all present at the combine, which lasts through Saturday.  Players who have not hired agents have until May 24th to either return to school or stay in the draft.
 



(Philadelphia, PA)  --  The Mariners are now on a four-game winning streak, after completing a two-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, 11-6.  Robinson Cano and Danny Valencia each launched a home run for Seattle, and Carlos Ruiz drove in four runs.  The Mariners are now at .500 for the first time this year.  They'll visit Toronto this evening to start a four-game series.



(Philadelphia, PA)  --  The Mariners will try to keep their three-game winning streak going later today, after rallying twice to beat the Phillies, 10-9.  Seattle overcame two four-run deficits, helped along by Ben Gamel's four hits.  Gamel included a three-run homer and Robinson Cano launched a two-run home run for the M's.  The Mariners and Phillies will play again at 10:05 this morning.



(Eugene, OR)  --  The top-ranked Oregon State Beavers visit Eugene to start a three-game set with Oregon tomorrow.  Oregon State won the only other matchup this year, 4-1, earlier this month in Corvallis.  The Beavers hold a 38-and-4 record overall, 21-and-3 in conference.  Oregon is 9-and-12 in Pac-12 play.
 



(Portland, OR)  --  Five Ducks pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout as Oregon topped the Pilots, 1-0, in Portland.  Isaiah Carranza gave up one hit over five innings to pick up the win.  Kenyon Yovan notched the save.  The lone run scored on a Taylor Travess single in the third.  The Ducks improved to 26-and-17.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Family members say former Portland Trail Blazer and current high-school basketball coach Brandon Roy is recovering well from gunshot wounds.  Roy was shot twice in late April outside his grandmother's home in the Los Angeles area as he shielded his six-year-old niece from gunfire.  Roy's cousin, Marvin Hall, says Roy continues to recover in the Seattle area.  Roy is the boys' basketball coach at Seattle's Nathan Hale High School.

(Bellevue, WA)  --  A defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks is being investigated for assault.  KING-5 reports Jarran Reed is accused of assaulting a woman at a home in Bellevue on April 27th.  Charges haven't yet been filed.  Reed was drafted last year as the 49th overall pick out of Alabama and started five games as a rookie, recording 21 tackles and one-point-five sacks.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  The Oregon State Beavers are still the top ranked team in the land.  Oregon State baseball has spent more than half the college baseball season as the consensus number-one team in the country.  Entering their seventh-straight week on top of the polls, the Beavers hold a 38-and-4 record overall, 21-and-3 in conference.  They open a three-game set with the Oregon Ducks in Eugene on Thursday.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks' recruiting class may take a huge leap forward.  According to 247Sports' Matt Prehm, five-star small forward Brian Bowen made a visit to Oregon.  Bowen left the Ducks off of his list of schools when he cut it down to five semifinalists.  Bowen has already taken official visits to Arizona, Creighton, Michigan State, North Carolina State and Texas.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Ducks are on the road to take on Portland tonight before they open their set against the top-ranked Beavers.  Oregon dropped two-of-three to Washington State over the weekend.  First pitch in Portland is slated for 6:00 p.m.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  The top-ranked Oregon State Beavers baseball team faces Cal today in the opener of a three-game series at Goss Stadium.  The Beavers are 35-and-4 overall and 18-and-3 in the Pac-12.  Cal enters at 21-and-21 overall and 12-and-9 in conference play.  First pitch is at 6 p.m.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are one of 17 NBA teams that will participate in the NBA 2K E-Sports league.  The new league was announced by the NBA yesterday, and will allow NBA franchises to form their own NBA 2K E-Sports team.  The teams will consist of five players each who will each have their own created player.  Play is expected to begin in 2018.



(San Jose, CA)  --  The Portland Timbers travel to face the San Jose Earthquakes tomorrow in MLS action.  Portland played to a draw its last time out versus FC Dallas.  The Timbers are currently second in the Western Conference with 17 points.  The Earthquakes are fifth with 12 points.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners have a series win to their credit after last night's 11-3 victory over the Angels.  Danny Valencia had four hits and three RBI for Seattle including a solo home run in the seventh.  Starter Ariel Miranda earned his third win of the year.  The M's will host Texas to begin a three-game series tonight.



(Renton, WA)  --  Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says the chances of cornerback Richard Sherman being traded are "zero percent."  Carroll says especially because the draft is no longer a factor, the likelihood of any trade is slim.  There had been persistent rumors that Sherman was being considered for a trade, but Carroll says Sherman now wants to "recapture the intensity he's always brought" and feels like he can do that.  
 



(Renton, WA)  --  Fullback Brandon Cottom is back with the Seahawks after being out last season with an Achilles tendon injury.  Cottom, who's been used both as a fullback and a tight end, re-signed with the team yesterday, making him one of three apparent fullbacks on the Seattle roster.  The Achilles tendon injury happened during last year's training camp as Cottom appeared ready to make a run at a roster spot.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners will try to win their series with the Angels tonight after rallying to defeat them last night, 8-7.  Seattle scored four runs in the eighth inning to break its three-game losing streak.  Robinson Cano and Jean Segura each homered for the Mariners.  The two teams will finish their three-game series tonight at Safeco Field.



(Undated)  --  Former Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy is recovering after being shot in the leg in Southern California over the weekend.  Multiple outlets report Roy was shot while trying to shield some of the children who were at a gathering outside of his grandmother's house.  Reports say Roy was a bystander when gunshots erupted in what may be a gang-related shooting.  Roy spent five of his six injury-plagued NBA seasons with Portland.  He averaged 18.8 points, 4.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds over 326 career games.  The three-time All-Star was drafted by the Blazers sixth overall in 2006 out of Washington.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  The top-ranked Oregon State Beavers baseball team welcomes Cal tomorrow to open a three-game series at Goss Stadium.  The Beavers are 35-and-4 overall and 18-and-3 in the Pac-12.  Oregon State has been the top-ranked college baseball team in the country for the past six weeks.
 



(Eugene, OR)  --  Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks basketball team are adding some veteran experience to their squad.  Former New Mexico guard Elijah Brown has reportedly agreed to sign with Oregon.  Brown averaged 21.7 points and 5.5 rebounds for UNM last year.  As a graduate transfer, Brown has one year of eligibility left.  He is the son of Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Brown.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon's Megan Kleist is the Pac-12 pitcher of the week.  Kleist won both of her outings this week as the sixth-ranked Ducks swept Oregon State.  She allowed four hits, zero runs while striking out 11 in 12 innings of work. Oregon is 41-and-6 overall, 14-and-6 in conference play.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Jordan Britton and Brandon Eisert combined for a gem as top-ranked Oregon State took out Oregon 4-1 in Corvallis.  Britton tossed five-and-a-third innings of one-run, two-hit ball to notch the win.  Eisert went three-and-a-third of hitless ball with six strikeouts to earn the save.  The Beavers improved to 34-and-4 overall, 18-and-3 in conference play.  The Ducks lone run scored on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.  Ryne Nelson was tagged with the loss.  The Ducks are 25-and-15, 8-and-10 in the Pac-12.

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard is the 2016-17 Professional Basketball Writers Association Magic Johnson Award recipient.  The award honors the player who best combines excellence on the court with cooperation and dignity in dealing with the media.  Lillard averaged a career-high 27.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.9 assists while helping Portland reach the postseason for a fourth-straight season.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners hope to rebound from a 6-4 series-opening loss to the Angels in eleven innings.  Albert Pujols had an RBI double in the top of the eleventh last night to hand Seattle its third straight loss.  Danny Valencia had a solo homer for the Mariners in the 6th.  The two teams will play again tonight at Safeco Field.



(Louisville, KY)  --  It's Kentucky Derby week at historic Churchill Downs.  The 143rd "Run for the Roses" takes place Saturday representing the first leg of horse racing's Triple Crown.  The post-position draw to determine gate assignments and morning-line odds will be held today.  Girvin and Classic Empire are among the early favorites in the mile-and-a-quarter race.



(Seattle, WA)  --  Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto says he was hoping for a better start to the season than 11-and-15, but he believes improvement is on the horizon.  Dipoto says even though injuries have sidelined some key people, including Felix Hernandez and rookie outfielder Mitch Haniger, he's happy the Mariners have managed to "stay afloat" without all the personnel he anticipated having.  Dipoto says he's happy with the Mariners' improvement on offense, noting the team is second in the American League in runs scored with 119.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Ducks new head coach Willie Taggart continues to add top talent to his recruiting class.  Four-star athlete Jevon Holland announced yesterday he is heading to Eugene.  Holland chose the Ducks over fellow finalists Notre Dame and Washington, as well as offers from Arizona, Cal, Nebraska, and UCLA among others.  Holland marks Oregon third defensive back pledge of the past few days, joining four-star cornerback Isaiah Bolden and four-star safety Steve Stephens.



(Undated)  --  Two more local undrafted football players have new homes with NFL teams.  Portland State defensive back Xavier Coleman and Oregon State DB Devin Chappell were signed as undrafted free agents yesterday.  Coleman inked a deal with the New York Jets and Chappell is heading to the Kansas City Chiefs.

(Eugene, OR)  --  David Peterson is Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week and the Pac-12 Conference Pitcher of the Week.  Peterson earned the honor after a dominating win over Arizona State.  The Ducks' Friday night starter pitched a complete-game shutout with a school-record 20 strikeouts.  Peterson claimed each award for the third time this season.

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  The 2017 NFL Draft concluded in Philadelphia on Saturday.  Oregon had no players selected.  Oregon State safety Treston Decoud went in the fifth round to the Texans and guard Sea Harlow was picked in the fourth by the Falcons.
 



(Undated)  --  Oregon State baseball took two-of-three from USC with a 10-1 win at home yesterday.  The Beavers are 34-and-4 and 18-and-3 in the Pac-12.  They host Oregon tomorrow night.  The Ducks come off beating ASU in two-of-three over the weekend.  Oregon finished off the series win with a 3-2 victory yesterday.  They're 25-and-14 and 8-and-10 in conference.
 



(Eugene, OR)  --  New Oregon head coach Willie Taggert put in some work during the weekend for the 2018 recruiting class.  The Ducks got verbal commitments from six players, including safety Steve Stephens, running back Jamal Elliott, linebacker Adrian Jackson, cornerback Isaiah Bolden, offensive tackle Dawson Jaramillo and tight end Spencer Webb.  They have seven verbals overall.



(Cleveland, OH)  --  The Mariners will be back home this week, after dropping two of three to Cleveland.  Seattle suffered a 12-4 loss yesterday, with Cleveland taking advantage of an eight-run third inning.  Nelson Cruz had two RBI for Seattle, including a solo homer in the second inning.  The Mariners will start a three-game series with the Angels tomorrow night at Safeco Field.
