(Las Vegas, NV)  --  The Blazers open NBA Summer League action next Saturday in Las Vegas.  The full roster has not been announced, but 2017 draft picks Zach Collins and Caleb Swanigan are expected to participate.  In other NBA news, free agency opens on Saturday.



(Undated)  --  In Minor League Baseball action last night, the Hillsboro Hops edged the Everett Aquasox, 5-4, at home.  Tim Susnara drove in the walkoff run in the bottom of the ninth inning.  The Hops host Everett again tonight.  The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes blanked the Tri-City Dust Devils, 2-0, in Pasco.  Heath Slatton earned the relief win as the series continues today.



(Kansas City, KS)  --  The Portland Timbers pay a visit to Sporting KC tomorrow in MLS action.  The Timbers are on a four-game winless streak.  Portland is in a three-way tie for second in the Western Conference with 25 points.  KC is first with 30 points.



(Oakland, CA)  --  Four Oregon Ducks players will suit up for the Golden State Warriors Summer League team.  Jordan Bell, Chris Boucher, Dylan Ennis and Elgin Cook will all be in Las Vegas next month representing the Warriors in Summer League action.  Bell was drafted by Golden State last week, while Boucher and Ennis each received Summer League invites.  Cook played for the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State's G-league franchise, last season.



(Kansas City, KS)  --  The Portland Timbers pay a visit between Sporting KC on Saturday in MLS action.  The Timbers are on a four-game winless streak and look to get in the win column.  Portland is in a three-way tie for second in the Western Conference with 25 points.  KC is first with 30 points.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers subtracted from their roster via trade on Wednesday.  Portland dealt guard Tim Quarterman to the Houston Rockets for cash considerations.  Quarterman averaged 1.9 points in 16 games for Portland last year.  He also spent 22 games in the NBA Development League.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The 40th anniversary of the Seattle Mariners is being celebrated with a new airplane.  Alaska Airlines  unveiled a new Mariners-themed Boeing 737 at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport yesterday.  The plane features the Mariners logo and the 40th anniversary design across the fuselage.  The plane's first flight was to Orange County yesterday morning and everyone on the flight got a Mariners hat.



(Undated)  --  In Minor League Baseball action last night, the Hillsboro Hops fell 8-3 to the Eugene Emeralds on the road.  Mitchell Aker was charged with the loss, his third.  The Hops host the Everett AquaSox today.  The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes also fell 8-3 to the Hawks in Boise.  The Volcanoes gave up four first-inning runs and never recovered.  They'll visit Tri-City today.



(Portland, OR)  --  With draft in the rear-view mirror, the Blazers are now preparing for free agency that opens with the moratorium period on Saturday.  Portland boasts the third-highest payroll in the NBA and already feature 15 players under contract.  They are not expected to be major players in the market.



(Eugene, OR)  --  The Ducks are welcoming another highly-touted recruit to campus.  Oregon landed a commitment from four-star athlete Tre'Shaun Harrison.  The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect out of Seattle is rated the nation's number-14 athlete and number-264 overall in the country by Scout.  Harrison also held offers from USC, Washington and Michigan among others.  He joins fellow local recruit, linebacker M.J. Cunningham, who committed over the weekend.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers are looking to move closer to the top of the table as they prep to visit first-place Sporting Kansas City this Saturday.  Portland sits in third place in the Western Conference with 25 points.  Sporting KC is on top with 30.  The teams met one previous time this season, in April, with Sporting Kansas City prevailing 1-0.



(Hillsboro, OR)  --  Former University of Oregon football player Colt Lyerla is facing more jail time.  Lyerla was ordered by a Washington County judge on Tuesday to serve another 30 days in jail after escaping from custody last month.  Lyerla was serving a six-month sentence for first and second-degree forgery.
 



(Omaha, NE)  --  The Florida Gators are the 2017 national champions.  Florida topped LSU, 6-1, in Game Two of the College World Series finals in Omaha.  Florida won the three-game series 2-0 to capture its first national championship.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers are adding some reinforcements to their back line.  The team has officially signed Congolese center back Larrys Mabiala.  The Timbers have been shorthanded since staring center back Gbenga Arokoyo went down with a season-ending injury in preseason.  Mabiala has made 201 professional appearances for four different teams since 2007.  He also has nine appearances for the Democratic Republic of the Congo National Team.
 



(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers expect a fully healthy roster by the start of training camp at the end of September.  Ed Davis, Allen Crabbe and Jusuf Nurkic are expected to be fully recovered by the time camp rolls around.  Davis underwent shoulder surgery in March, Crabbe had foot surgery in May and Nurkic is still recovering from his leg fracture.



(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon won an in-state recruiting battle over Oregon State.  Linebacker M.J. Cunningham is joining new head coach Willie Taggart with the Ducks.  He's the 14th commitment to Oregon's 2018 class.



(Omaha, NE)  --  Oregon State's amazing baseball season came to an end on Saturday.  The Beavers fell to LSU, 6-1, to lose a three-game series and fall one victory short of the College World Series Finals.  OSU won the opener of the set and then dropped the final two.  It was the first time all season they dropped consecutive games.  The Beavers went 56-and-6.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers and Sounders played to a 2-2 draw at Providence Park.  Fanendo Adi and Dairon Aspirilla had the goals for Portland, who are tied for second in the West.  They're at Sporting KC on Saturday.



(Eugene, OR)  --  Former Oregon guard Dylan Ennis is going to have a chance to impress NBA and international scouts.  Ennis is going to play with the Thunder in Orlando Summer League and the Warriors in the Las Vegas Summer League.  The Orlando version starts on Saturday.



(Brooklyn, NY)  --  Three Oregon Ducks are joining the NBA.  The Golden State Warriors bought into the second round of the NBA Draft last night to select forward Jordan Bell 38th overall.  Guard Tyler Dorsey went three picks later to the Atlanta Hawks.  Dillon Brooks was then selected by Houston in the 45th pick and was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.  The Portland Trail Blazers, meanwhile, chose Purdue's Caleb Swanigan with the 26th pick, and traded pick numbers 15 and 20 for tenth pick Zach Collins of Gonzaga.



(Hillsboro, OR)  --  The Hops suffered an 8-6 loss to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes last night in Hillsboro.  Gavin Stupienski plated two runs during a six-run sixth for the Hops, who fell to 4-and-4.  Hillsboro opens a three-game home series with Boise tonight.



(Omaha, NE)  --  The Beavers are one win away from advancing to the College World Series Finals.  Oregon State faces Louisiana State in Omaha today.  Oregon State has yet to lose in the double-elimination tournament, while LSU has one loss.  The CWS Finals is a three-game series that starts on Monday.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Timbers take on the rival Seattle Sounders at Providence Park on Sunday.  Portland is looking to bounce back from Wednesday's 3-2 road loss to Minnesota.  The Timbers are third in the West with 24 points.  Seattle is eighth with 20.



(Brooklyn, NY)  --  The 2017 NBA Draft tips off tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  The Portland Trail Blazers own the 15th, 20th and 26th overall picks in round one.  Ducks prospects Jordan Bell, Tyler Dorsey and Dillon Brooks are all expected to be chosen.  The draft begins at 7 p.m. and will air on ESPN.



(Portland, OR)  --  A deal that would expand the home of the Portland Timbers is getting the green light.  The Portland City Council yesterday approved the deal that will see the team invest 50-million dollars in Providence Park.  The investment could allow up to four-thousand seats to be added to the stadium.  "The Oregonian" reports that in exchange for the investment, the Timbers will be exempt from around five-million dollars in ticket taxes.



(Minneapolis, MN)  --  Two own goals and two red cards highlighted a 3-2 Timbers loss to Minnesota United in Minneapolis on Wednesday.  Amobi Okugo scored on his own net in the seventh minute to put Portland into an early hole.  Diego Valeri scored on a penalty for the Timbers, who fell to 7-7-and-3.  Portland hosts Seattle on Sunday.



(Omaha, NE)  --  The Beavers are one win away from advancing to the College World Series Finals.  Oregon State faces Louisiana State in Omaha tomorrow.  Oregon State has yet to lose in the double elimination tournament, while LSU has one loss.  The CWS Finals is a three-game series that starts on Monday.
 



(Hillsboro, OR)  --  The Volcanoes scored twice in the top of the 13th inning as they outlasted the Hops, 5-3, in Hillsboro on Wednesday.  Juan Rodriguez tripled in the go-ahead run and Ryan Kirby padded the lead on an RBI-single.  John Timmons earned the relief win for the Volcanoes.  The rubber match is today at Ron Tonkin Field.  First pitch is at 1:05 p.m.

(Omaha, NE)  --  Oregon State is perfect at the College World Series.  The Beavers blasted LSU 13-1 on Monday, improving to 2-and-0 in Omaha while LSU fell to 1-and-1 in the double-elimination tournament.  The Tigers and Seminoles meet today.  The winner will take on the Beavers this coming Friday.
 



(Minneapolis, MN)  --  The Timbers will look to turn around their recent road woes as they visit Minnesota United FC today in Minneapolis.  After starting the season 2-1-and-1 away from home, Portland has lost four-straight road contests.  The Timbers are currently third in the Western Conference with 24 points, Minnesota is dead last with 14.  Start time is set for 4:00 p.m. at TCF Bank Stadium.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State football continues to make a name for itself on the recruiting trail.  The Beavers landed three-star defensive end Andy Koch yesterday.  Koch chose Oregon State over offers from Arizona, Boise State, BYU, Colorado, Harvard, Iowa State and Washington State.



Summit track star Olivia Brooks won the Johnny Carpenter Class 5A/6A prep female top athlete of the year award at the 65th annual Oregon Sports Awards Sunday night at the Nike campus.

Mountain View graduate and 2 time Olympic gold medal decathlete Ashton Eaton shares the Harry Glickman top male professional athlete award with Ryan Crouser.

And, Beaver baseball coach Pat Casey wins the Slats Gill Sports person of the Year.

(Omaha, NE)  --  Oregon State remains perfect at the College World Series.  The Beavers blasted LSU 13-1, improving to 2-and-0 in Omaha while LSU fell to 1-and-1 in the double-elimination tournament.  K.J. Harrison had a grand slam for Oregon State, which will play either LSU or Florida State on Friday.



(Yuma, AZ)  --  The Oregon Ducks remain in the hunt for top junior college tight end Dominick Wood-Anderson.  The 6-foot-5, 245-pounder from Arizona Western College tweeted yesterday that he will announce publicly where he intends to play on August 1st.  Oregon, Alabama and Texas are all in the mix.
 



(Tualatin, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers got a first-hand look at North Carolina prospect Justin Jackson on Monday.  The 6-foot-8 Tar Heels forward worked out for the Portland, with team owner Paul Allen and vice chairman Bert Kolde watching courtside.  Oregon's Jordan Bell was also part of yesterday's workout.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers have two more days to finalize their draft board.  The NBA Draft takes place Thursday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  Portland has three first-round picks, the 15th, the 20th and 26th overall.  The Sixers acquired the top overall pick in a trade with the Celtics yesterday.
 



(Omaha, NE)  --  Top-ranked Oregon State will face LSU tonight in a College World Series winner's bracket game in Omaha.  The Beavers have won 22 in-a-row after rallying from a four-run deficit to top Cal State Fullerton 6-5 in a first-round game Saturday.  Oregon State is 55-and-4.  LSU has won 17 straight.



(Eugene, OR)  --  Christopher Randazzo, a 6-foot-7, 325-pound offensive lineman from Chino, California Don Lugo High, announced on his twitter account he has committed to Oregon.  He is listed as a three-star recruit for the 2018 class..  He received offers from Arizona State and Fresno State.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers will have three first-round picks in the NBA draft on Thursday.  Portland owns the 15th, 20th and 26th overall selections.  The Blazers will look at Purdue big-man Caleb Swanigan, Indiana center Thomas Bryant, Southeast Missouri State guard Antonius Cleveland, Dayton guard Charles Cooke, Arizona guard Kobi Simmons and Monmouth guard Justin Robinson in a pre-draft workout today.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are moving on from their three-day mandatory minicamp today.  Yesterday's workout marked the end of the team's offseason program.  Training camp officially starts next month.  Seattle's first preseason game is August 13th at the Chargers.

(Omaha, NE)  --  Oregon State ace Luke Heimlich is not going to travel with the Beavers for the College World Series in Omaha.  The Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year did not pitch in the Super Regionals after a report surfaced that he pleaded guilty to felony child molestation as a teenager.  Heimlich leads the nation with a 0.76 ERA but was not selected in the Major League Baseball first-year player draft held earlier this week.
 



(Commerce City, CO)  --  The Timbers are back in action tomorrow as they face the Colorado Rapids.  Portland trails Sporting Kansas City by two points for the top spot in the Western Conference.  Colorado has a league-low 13 points.  The Timbers have won two-of-three coming in.

(Omaha, NE)  --  Oregon State pitcher Luke Heimlich's pro baseball career is in question as he went undrafted in the 2017 MLB Draft.  Heimlich was publicly identified as a sex offender in recent weeks, and has not pitched for the Beavers since the opening round of the tournament.  He went 11-and-1 this year for OSU with a 0.76 ERA.  He was expected to be picked in the first three rounds before the story broke.  Heimlich's playing status for the College World Series has not been determined.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Graduate transfer basketball player MiKyle McIntosh will continue his college career at Oregon.  The former Illinois State forward announced the decision on Thursday via social media.  The six-foot-seven McIntosh averaged 12.5 points and 5.6 rebounds for ISU last season.  He has one year of eligibility remaining.
 



(Undated)  --  Former Seahawks punter Rick Tuten is dead at the age of 52.  Ocala.com reports Tuten died unexpectedly in Costa Rica this week.  His cause of death is unknown.  Tuten suited up for the Seahawks from 1991-97.
 



The Big League baseball Draft enters its third, and final day of rounds 11 through 40 in the Free Agent market.

Yesterday, Oregon left-handed Pitcher David Peterson was selected 20th overall in the first round by the Mets, and Oregon State’s Drew Rasmussen, originally from Spokane, was tabbed 31st overall by the
Tamp Bay Rays.

The Beavers also had Junior first-baseman K.J. Harrison selected in the 3rd Round by the Brewers, 84th overall…and, Redshirt Junior Pitcher Jake Thompson, a Siuslaw graduate, was drafted in the 4th round, 131st overall.

Oregon Catcher Tim Susnara was picked in the 8th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks.


And,
Joey Morgan, product of Sisters High Scool and current Washington Huskies catcher, was drafter to the Detroit Tigers in Round 3.

In Westcoast League collegiate summer action last night, the Bend Elks lost to Corvallis 17-to-6. The Knights win the series 2-games to one and take an early 2-game lead in the South Division over Bend.

The Elks continue the home stand tonight hosting the Wenatachee Applesox with first pitch set for 635pm.
 



The College Baseball World Series opens Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska and the #1 rated Oregon State Beavers meet Cal-State Fullerton Saturday at noon televised on ESPN.

OSU is 54-and-4 overall and the Titans are 39-and-22. The Beavers will meet either LSU, or Florida State Monday at 11am, or 5pm.

The other World Series matchups has Louisville facing Texas A&M, and Florida meeting TCU.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Timbers fell to Sounders FC, 2-1, in U.S. Open Cup action last night in Seattle.  Augustine Williams tied the game in the 38th minute before Seattle took the lead on a penalty kick in the 54th minute.



(Renton, WA)  --  Mandatory minicamp for the Seahawks is underway.  The three-day camp began yesterday and runs through tomorrow.  The minicamp is the final portion of Seattle's offseason program.  Players will be then be off until training camp starts next month.

(Secaucus, NJ)  --  Oregon Ducks pitcher David Peterson was drafted by the New York Mets yesterday in the first round of the 2017 MLB Draft.  The six-foot-six lefty went 11-and-4 with a 2.51 ERA for the Ducks this year and ranked set the school record for strikeouts with 140.  The junior does have one year of college eligibility left should he choose to remain with the Ducks.  The Rays selected Oregon State right-hander Drew Rasmussen with the 31st overall pick.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Seahawks kick off mandatory minicamp today.  The three-day minicamp runs through Thursday.  Any players not present are subject to fines.  In other Seahawks news, running back Eddie Lacy earned a 55-thousand dollar bonus for meeting his weight requirements.  Lacy has weigh-in bonuses built into his contract as the big back has struggled with his weight his entire career.



(Seattle, WA)  --  The Portland Timbers are on the road today to clash with Seattle Sounders FC in U.S. Open Cup action at Starfire Stadium.  The winner will advance to the fifth round of the U.S. Open to face either the San Jose Earthquakes or the NASL-based San Francisco Deltas.  MLS regular season action resumes Saturday when Portland visits the Colorado Rapids.

(Eugene, OR)  --  Oregon women's track and field team was the champion at the NCAA Outdoor Track And Field Championships on Saturday.  That gave them the first-triple crown in NCAA history.  The Ducks swept outdoor track and field, the NCAA Indoor title and the cross country championship.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State completed a two-game sweep of Vanderbilt in the Super Regionals with a 9-2 win in Corvallis on Saturday.  The Beavers won the opener, 8-4.  They're undefeated through five games of the NCAA Tournament.  OSU advances to College World Series that begins in Omaha on Sunday.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers take on FC Dallas on tomorrow in MLS action.  Portland is currently two points behind third-place Dallas in the Western Conference standings.  The next home game after tomorrow won't be until June 25th with rival Seattle comes to town.



(Eugene, OR)  --  The 2017 NCAA Division-One outdoor track and field championships continue today in Eugene.  The women's program looks to make history as they attempt to become the first team to ever with the NCAA championships in cross country, indoor tack and outdoor track in the same academic year.  Men's sprinter Kyree King is in the field for the men's 100-meter dash final after running a 10-flat during Wednesday's semifinals.  Tennessee sprinter Christian Coleman is the favorite after breaking the NCAA record in the 100-meter with a 9.82 during the semis.



(Corvallis, OR)  --  Oregon State pitcher Luke Heimlich is under scrutiny as news of a past conviction surfaces.  Heimlich pled guilty to sexually molesting a six-year-old girl when he was 15 years old, and is registered as a sex offender in Benton County.  He was cited in April for missing his annual update.  Heimlich is 11-and-1 for Oregon State this year with a 0.76 ERA and is a top prospect in this year's MLB Draft.
 



(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are set to close the book on organized team activities.  Seattle holds its final OTA session of the offseason today.  The 'Hawks begin their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.



(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers are in full evaluation mode as the NBA draft quickly approaches.  Portland held its first pre-draft yesterday.  Six prospects were in attendance, including Wake Forest forward John Collins and UCLA forward T.J. Leaf.  South Carolina guard Sindarius Thornwell and Villanova guard Josh Hart also took the floor.  The Blazers plan to hold five more workouts with roughly 35 players.



(Undated)  --  Oregon State opens Super Regional action tomorrow in Corvallis against Vanderbilt.  The Beavers will advance to the College World Series in Omaha if they win the three-game set with the Commodores.  Oregon State is 52-and-4 on the year and Vanderbilt is 36-and-23.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers take on FC Dallas on Saturday in MLS action.  Portland is currently two points behind third-place Dallas in the Western Conference standings.  The next home game after Saturday won't be until June 25th with rival Seattle comes to town.
 



Former Ridgeview All-League infielder Colin Runge (rungg-gee) laced the game-winning run-scoring triple in the 6th inning last night to break a 1-1 tie, and lead the Bend Elks past Walla Walla for a second-straight night, 5-2.

Runge, now playing college ball at Chemeketa CC in Salem followed Derek Chapman’s leadoff triple to begin the 6th inning with a 3-bagger of his own, and the Elks added 2 more runs in the 7th to start the season 2-and-oh with the win..

Former Summit cather and current Cougar, Cal Waterman, in the 6th inning grounded home Runge for the Elks only RBI’s of the game along with Runge’s.

Kris Jackson pitched the winning working 7-innings and giving up 7 hits, but allowing just 1 run while striking out 4.

Meantime, Oklahoma does it again winning their third National Title in the last 5 years sweeping the Final series from Florida 2-zip, and deciding it last night beating the Gators, 5-4, to claim the Women’s College World Series, again. Florida finishes runner-up after winning back-to-back Titles in 2014 & 2015. Oregon officially finishes third place overall in the last three years.



Top ranked Oregon State’s baseball team will host Vanderbilt Friday night in the NCAA College Baseball ‘Super Regionals.’  The Beavers host Vandy in a best-3 game series with the winner advancing to the Elite-8 College World Series in Omaha.

Oregon State is 52-and-4 and last made the World Series in 2013, but were eliminated. The Beavers are trying to make magic happen again 10-years later when Oregon State last won the National Title in 2007.

Vanderbilt won it all in 2014 and bring a 36-and-23 record to Corvallis.
