CFB Tomorrow: Ducks, Beavs...

College Football: 

Oregon State and new head coach Trent Bray take the field tomorrow after a turbulent offseason that saw the demise of a historic conference and an exodus of players and coaches. All that’s behind the Beavers now as the  Idaho State Bengals come to Corvallis. OSU is favored by 28 and a half. Kick off is at 3:30.

Oregon’s season of high hopes in a different conference in the beginning of a new era of college football finally starts tomorrow. The Ducks are favored by 44 and a half over Idaho. In a season like this, playing in the Big 10 now with other national championship contenders all the style points will count and no stumbles will be allowed. MLB: 

The Giants were shutout 6 to nothing in Milwaukee. They’re back home in San Francisco tonight to take on the Miami Marlins. First pitch at 7:10.

The Mariners are in Anaheim for a weekend series with the Angels starting tonight at 6:38

Soccer: 

The Portland Thorns play Bay FC tonight at7

Portland Timbers take on Seattle tomorrow night at 7:30

Ducks' FB Flowers On Freshman Watch List...Bend's McCormick Set for 9th Season

College Football: 

The Maxwell Football Club put out the watch list for the 7th annual Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award and it includes Ducks Safety Aaron Flowers. Oregon got some good news at practice yesterday when guard Matthew Bedford returned to the field. The transfer from Indiana was out of practice for the past two weeks with a knee injury. Coach Dan Lanning wasn’t sure if Bedford would be ready for Saturday though. Oregon State Defensive coordinator Keith Heyward said he’s looking to see how the mix of his experienced players works with the new ones on Saturday. Game week preparation continues in Corvallis for the Idaho State Bengals’ visit on Saturday.  

MLB: 

San Francisco lost to Milwaukee 5 to 3 and fell back to .500 at 67 and 67. Pitcher Kyle Harrison cruised into the 5th inning not giving up any runs but the wheels came off with two outs when he gave up all five runs. The Giants finish the series against the Brewers today. First pitch at 11:10.

The Mariners beat Tampa 6 to 2 yesterday to take the series from the Rays. Luis Castillo notches his 11th win against 12 losses. Julio Rodriguez and Victor Robles homered. Seattle is in 2nd place 3.5 games behind the Astros. Next the Ms travel to Anaheim for a weekend series with the Angels starting tomorrow. 

 

Local: 

Former Summit High standout Cam McCormick is getting a lot of national run the past couple of days in College Football preview stories as he begins his 9th college season. The 26 year old Tight End began playing at the U of O in the  freshman class of 2016 and is now at the University of Miami, reuniting with former Ducks coach Mario Cristobal on the Hurricanes squad. McCormick has been in uniform, or street clothes, on Saturdays for nearly a decade due to injuries and the COVID waiver.

College Football: 

Oregon State received a commitment from 3 star Wide Receiver Skyler Jackson out of Nevada for the 2025 season. Game week preparation continues in Corvallis for the Idaho State Bengals’ visit on Saturday.  

Oregon Quarterback Dillon Gabriel and Tight End Kenyon Sadiq both said at their media availabilit they’re excited to finally get the season going. y the season opener would be fun.

MLB: 

The Mariners fell 3 to 2 against Tampa last night. Logan Gilbert’s masterful 6 shutout innings with 4 hits and 10 Strikeouts went for nothing. The Ms scattered five hits. Cal Raleigh had an RBI and the other run was unearned. They also missed an opportunity to make ground on the 3 and a half game division gap after the Astros lost. The series finale against the Rays is in Seattle this afternoon at 1:10.

San Francisco beat Milwaukee 5 to 4 yesterday thanks to a Mike Yastrzemski go-ahead 2-run homer in the 7th. Unfortunately the injury bug keeps biting the pitching staff.  Left-hander Robbie Ray and right-hander Jordan Hicks are going on the 15-day injured list. Ray with a hamstring, and Hicks with a shoulder. The Giants go for a series win when they battle the Brewers today. First pitch at 5:10.

NFL: 

The 53 man rosters are in.

The Seahawks notable positions include some banged up players at tight end and offensive line. Tackle Abe Lucas is on the Physically Unable To Perform list meaning he will have to miss at least the first 4 games of the season. Quarterback Sam Howell will be the lone backup to Geno Smith.

The 49ers will have only one Tight End to back up George Kittle. And only have two tackles as Trent Williams won’t be on the active list due to his contract holdout. Of course, Brandon Aiyuk could still get traded before San Francisco plays the Jets Monday Night September 9th. 

Local: 

The 4th year of the Redline Rally returns to Mt. Bachelor today. The mountain bike event features some of the best local riders and professionals pulling tricks on Bachelor’s flagship jump trail, Redline. The dirt is in mint condition according to riders. Redline Rally is free to watch. You can either ride a bike down, or hike up to the “moon booter” dirt ramp.

The event starts at 10 am and goes until early afternoon.

College Football: 

Oregon State head coach Trent Bray named six team captains for the season that begins Saturday against Idaho State.  Maybe unsurprisingly from the former OSU Linebacker four of the six come from the defensive side of the ball, including lineman Semisi Saluni and inside linebacker Melvin Jordan IV along with defensive backs Jaden Robinson and Skyler Thomas. Offensive lineman Joshua Gray is a captain for the 2nd time… and senior quarterback Ben Gulbranson also got the nod.

MLB: 

The Mariners got by the Giants 4 to 3 yesterday. San Francisco drops the series. Heliot Ramos and Grant McCay homered for SF. Bryan Woo got the win for the Ms. The new additions to  the coaching staff, manager Dan Wilson and hitting coach Edgar Martinez are now 2 and 1, 4 and a half games behind Houston for the AL West lead.

San Francisco is starting a series in Milwaukee tomorrow.

The Mariners have Tampa at T Mobile park starting tonight at 6:40.

NFL:

The 49ers’ wild finish against Las Vegas Friday went viral over the weekend when the last play of the game had several laterals and fumbles as San Francisco was trying to get into the endzone at the end of the game. They didn’t score and there was an illegal forward pass anyway. The game ended in a 24-all tie.

The Seahawks had quarterback Geno Smith in for the first drive of the last preseason game Saturday. It ended with a touchdown pass to DK Metcalf. Seattle’s defensive starters also had a good showing.

The final 53-player roster has to be decided tomorrow.

College Hoops:

The Beavers will open the Diamond Head Classic against Charleston on December 22nd. Oakland, Loyola Chicago, Nebraska, Murray State, Charlotte and Hawai'i are the other teams playing over the holidays in Honolulu.

Oregon Cascades 100 This Weekend

College Football: 

Oregon begins practice today in game week preparation.  The season starts next Saturday against Idaho for the number 3 Ducks.

The Beavers finished out training camp in Corvallis. We expect to hear who the starting quarterback will be for the Beavers’ opener against Idaho State on the 31st.

MLB: 

Dan Wilson will be managing his first game for the Mariners when they host the Giants tonight. Yesterday, Scott Servais was relieved of his duties, according to a statement from President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto. Hitting coach Jarret DeHart was also let go. In a statement Dipoto said the team needed a new voice in the clubhouse. Wilson is the 21st manager in club history, he’s been in the organization for 11 years.  The Ms having won just 2 of their last 10 and have fallen five and a half games behind Houston in the AL West. San Francisco meanwhile enters today a game above .500 all but out of the wild card race. First pitch from T-Mobile park is 7:10 tonight.

NFL:

The 49ers finish the preseason tonight against the Raiders. Kick off is at 7.

The Seahawks’ preseason finishes in Seattle tomorrow against Cleveland at 7.

 

Local: 

The Oregon Cascades 100 from Bend to Sisters is this weekend. Racers have to go a hundred miles in under 32 hours to finish. The starting gun goes off Saturday at Pacific Crest Middle School and finishes Sunday at Sisters Middle School. The 50 miler starts at Swampy Lakes Sno-Park. The race course is in the Deschutes National Forest between Bend and Sisters. It’s a Western States Endurance race qualifier.

College Football: 

That’s a wrap for training camp…

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said the team isn’t where it needs to be yet but is getting there after three weeks of preseason training. Today is an off day and then they’ll move into game week preparation. The season starts next Saturday against Idaho.

The Beavers finished out training camp in Corvallis. We expect to hear who the starting quarterback will be for the Beavers’ opener against Idaho State on the 31st.

Ducks Wide Receiver Evan Stewart and Beavers Offensive lineman Van Wells have been selected to the watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award which goes to an offensive player hailing from Texas

Oregon State offensive lineman Joshua Gray is on the watch list for the Senior Bowl taking place next February ahead of the NFL scouting Combine. 17 Oregon seniors made the list. Hear about it on the Oregon Ducks Insider daily podcast. Click the link on the right side of this page.

MLB: 

San Francisco gave up 4 runs in the 9th to fall to the White Sox 6 to 2 yesterday. It spoiled Logan Webb’s 8 innings yielding two runs. Now the Giants start a series in Seattle beginning tomorrow. 

The Mariners went down 8 to 4 in Los Angeles last night. The Ms continue to scuffle having won just 2 of their last 10 and stay five games back of Houston in 2nd place in the AL West. Seattle hosts a weekend series with San Francisco after an off day today.

MLB: 

The Mariners lost 6 to 3 to the Dodgers last night. Jorge Polanco went 2 for 3 and knocked in all of Seattle’s runs. The Ms will try to salvage the series today in LA. First pitch is 7:10. 

San Francisco took down the White Sox 4 to 1 yesterday. Heliot Ramos had 2 RBI while starter Robbie Ray went 6.2 giving up the one run.  The Giants go for the sweep in Chicago today. First pitch is at 12:45.

The Seahawks have quarterback Sam Howell playing well in the two preseason games, as he looks to have the QB2 spot locked up. Seattle would prefer to have him come in for Geno Smith in a blowout rather than because he’s banged up. That depends on the health of the offensive line. It looks like tackle Abraham Lucas is still not a 100% to make it on the field Week 1, but new free-agent acquisition center Connor Williams did practice yesterday. He’s coming  off ACL surgery. The preseason finishes back in Seattle Saturday against Cleveland.

Ducks, Beavs Open Camp...Redmond's Vinceri Tees Off In LPGA Event...Elks Win

Local: 

Bend pounded the Drifters 14 to 3 last night to set up a rubber match in Springfield tonight for game 3. The Elks remain in third place a game behind Portland and Ridgefield at the top of the south division.

 

Round one of the 2024 Portland Classic at Columbia Edgewater Country Club is today. The field includes Redmond amateur Yvonne Vinceri. She’s competing in the LPGA Tour tournament after winning the Les Schwab Tires Amateur Open in June.  Vinceri tees off at 9:16 this morning.

College Football: 

Oregon’s first day of preseason camp yesterday had coach Dan Lanning saying afterwards he liked his transfers and veteran players' execution on making plays…Hear more on the Oregon Ducks Insider daily podcast found on the right side of this page. The season kick-off is August 31st against Idaho.

The Beavers day one of camp had Ben Gulbranson taking snaps at first team quarterback. The junior started OSU’s Sun Bowl game against Notre Dame last December. Oregon State’s season opener is August 31st against Idaho State.

MLB: 

The Mariners fell 3 to 2 to the Red Sox with a walk-off double  in the 10th inning yesterday. Seattle fall back into a tie with Houston for the AL West division lead. Now it’s back home to T-Mobile Park tomorrow for a weekend series against Philadelphia.

San Francisco used a complete game shutout gem from Logan Web to beat Oakland 1 to nothing last night. The Giants only run came from a sacrifice fly in the 5th. That As out hit S F 5 to 4. Now it's on the road at Cincinnati starting tomorrow.

Soccer: 

The Portland Thorns had a 1 to nothing win over Seattle in the third and final match of pool play of the NWSL vs Women’s Mexican League Summer Cup. The Thorns finish two and 1 in the stage. 2 goals behind Salt Lake.

The Portland Timbers have a Leagues Cup Match against Colorado tonight at Providence Park at 7:30.

 

Three Ducks Earn AP All American

College Football: 

Three Ducks are on another All American List. Oregon Quarterback Dillon Gabriel, offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius, and wide receiver Tez Johnson were named to the Associated Press Preseason All American Second Team. Meanwhile on the field…Oregon is looking for players to step up on the offensive line after some injury setbacks. Hear more on the Oregon Ducks Insider daily podcast. MLB: 

San Francisco used 4 runs in the 5th and then hung on after the White Sox scored 2 in the 8th to win 5 to 3 last night. Kyle Harrison went 6 innings giving up a run. Matt Chapman homered. Game two against Chicago is tonight. First pitch is at 6:45.

The Mariners were shut out 2 - 0 with just 2 hits against the Dodgers last night. Bryan Woo gave up 2 runs on 2 hits in 6.1 for the hard luck loss. The Ms fall 5 games behind Houston in the AL west. First pitch tonight in LA is 7:10.

The Seahawks have signed two tight ends to the squad after free agent signing Pharaoh Brown injured his foot last week. The preseason finishes back in Seattle Saturday against Cleveland.

San Francisco hasn’t seen any movement on getting Tackle Trent Williams or Receiver Brandon Aiyuk back into camp.The 49ers finish the preseason Friday against the Raiders.

Ducks' FB Preseason All Americans...OSU FB's Gray Up For Lombardi...Blazers Leave Root

College Football: 

Oregon had several players land on some preseason All American lists. CBS Sports has quarterback Dillon Gabriel and receiver Tez Johnson on their 2nd team. Gabriel and Johnson are on ESPN’s 2nd team. The Athletic has Gabriel on the 1st team, and O  lineman Ajani Cornelius on the 2nd. The Sporting News has Cornelius and Johnson on 1st Team, and DB Jabbar Muhammad landed on the 2nd. The watchlist for the Lombardi Award for the top offensive or defensive lineman or linebacker named LB Jeffery Bassa, T Ajani Cornelius, and T Josh Conerly Jr.  The season starts Saturday the 31st against Idaho.

Oregon State offensive lineman Joshua Gray is also on the watch list for the Lombardi Award. Gray is also up for the Outland Trophy for best lineman. The Beavers’ opener is Saturday the 31st against Idaho State.

MLB: 

The Mariners got swept out of Detroit, coming from ahead to lose 2 to 1 when they gave up 2 runs in the 8th yesterday. Seattle scored their lone run in the 1st inning on a bases loaded walk. They only had 1 hit, and slipped 3 games behind the Astros for the division lead.  Now its on to Pittsburgh. First pitch against the Pirates today is at 3:40.

San Francisco shut out Atlanta 6 to 0 with Logan Webb going 7.2 shutout. Casey Schmitt and Grant McRae homered.  Now the Giants have an off day before traveling across the Bay tomorrow for a weekend series with A’s.

NFL:

Seattle has practiced in Nashville with the Titans the last two days. Tomorrow the Seahawks will kick-off against Tennessee in the two teams' second preseason game at 4 pm.

San Francisco opted not to practice with New Orleans this week because of so many injured players. The 49ers play the Saints Sunday afternoon starting at 5.

NBA:

The Trail Blazers will open the season against Golden State on October 23rd. But the games won’t be on Root Sports. The Blazers have announced they’re leaving the cable channel and likely going to be on an over the air network in Portland, with a streaming option to be determined.

Ducks' Gabriel on Unitas QB Watch List

College Football: 

Oregon State quarterbacks Gabarri Johnson and Gevanni McCoy both had time with the media yesterday. The transfers, both in their first seasons in Corvallis are among the three players looking to be QB1. Each complimented the other’s play, so far in camp. Offensive coordinator Ryan Gunderson recently said he’s looking for one of those two or senior Ben Gulbranson to emerge from the pack.  The Beavers’ opener is Saturday the 31st against Idaho State.

Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel was put on another preseason watch list. The Johnny Unitas 2024 Golden Arm Award will go to the country’s top senior quarterback. The transfer has been named to three other watchlists including the Walter Camp player of the year…and while it is not an official watchlist, Gabriel is the betting favorite right now, to win the Heisman Trophy.

The Mariners lost in the 10th inning 3 to 2 in Detroit yesterday. Bryan Woo’s seven shutout innings was wasted when Seattle had no answer for the Tigers pitching either, although Julio Rodriguez did go 2 for 4 with one of the RBIs. Now the Ms will try to steal the last game of the series.  First pitch is this morning at 10:10.

San Francisco got down early and never recovered getting wiped out 13 to 2 by Atlanta last night. Starter Robbie Ray only lasted two thirds of the first inning giving up five runs. Now the Giants will try to avoid the four game series sweep. First pitch today is 12:45.

NFL:

 

Seattle practiced in Nashville yesterday against the Titans. The Seahawks first team offense and defense went against Tennessee’s. Coach Mike Macdonald said afterwards he liked what he saw, from the defense which he spent most of the time focused on. The two teams play their second preseason game Saturday.

Ducks' Bassa On Butkus Watchlist

College Football: 

Oregon senior Jeffrey Bassa has been named to the preseason watch list for the Butkus Award, for the country’s best linebacker. Bassa was an all-conference second-team selection in 2023. He’s also on the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which goes to the top overall defensive player in the country.

Oregon State offensive coordinator Ryan Gunderson told the media gathering after practice yesterday Quarterbacks Gevani McCoy, Gabarri Johnson and Ben Gulbranson would continue to take snaps with the first team offense. He says the team overall needs to improve in Red Zone situations. The Beavers’ opener is Saturday the 31st against Idaho State.

MLB: 

San Francisco lost to Atlanta in extra innings again last night. This time going down 4 to 3 in the 10th. Tyler Fitgerald homered for his 13th of the season. He joins Wille Mays as the only Giants to hit 15 home runs in their first 59 career games.  Game three of the four game series is tonight starting at 6:45.

The Mariners got mauled by the Tigers 15 to 1 last night. All 15 runs were earned. And Detroit pounded out 20 hits. Seattle only managed 3. And they’ve slipped a game and half behind Houston into 2nd place in the division. The Ms will look to bounce back in game two of the series.  First pitch today at 3:40.

NBA:

The Trail Blazers open their NBA Cup Group Play against Minnesota. The Timberwolves will be at the Moda Center on Tuesday, November 12th to start the second go around of the in-season tournament. The Blazers, and T-wolves are in the West A Group along with the Clippers, Kings, and Rockets.

Ducks FB No. 3 AP Top 25... Oregon's Muhammad, OSU's Wells Preseason Watchlists

College Football: 

Oregon makes its highest preseason ranking in the Associated Press poll since 2014 coming in at number 3. The Ducks were picked number 3 last week in the preseason Coaches Poll. 

Also yesterday, defensive back Jabbar Muhammad was named to the preseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, for the most outstanding defensive player. It’s the third preseason watch for Muhammad who also has the Bronko Nagurski Trophy top defensive player, and the Jim Thorpe Award for the top db.

Oregon State offensive lineman Van Wells is on the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy,  given  to the nation's top center. Wells doesn’t yet know who he will be snapping to during the regular season though.  The Beavers’ opener is Saturday the 31st against Idaho State.

San Francisco lost a heartbreaker to Atlanta last night 1 to 0 in 10 innings. Blake Snell threw 6 and a third with 11 strikeouts, and allowed 2 of the four hits. The Giants only managed 3 hits. Game two of the four game series which has wild card implications is tonight starting at 6:45.

Seattle trails Houston by a half game in the AL West entering play today. Yesterday, the Mariners signed outfielder Victor Robles to a 2 year extension with a third-year team option for 2027. Now the Mariners are in Detroit for a midweek series. The Tigers just took a series from the Ms last week. First pitch today at 3:40.

Elks Fall To Pickles...Ducks & Beavs Scrimmage

Local: 

The Elks lost 16 to 6 to Portland last night. That eliminates Bend in the WCL southern divisional playoffs. The Pickles will advance to the next round.

College Football: 

Training Camp Report-

Oregon State head coach Trent Bray spoke to the media following Saturday’s scrimmage saying it's still a three-way battle at quarterback and it may come down to the final week of camp. Bray said the new coaching staff and newcomers at key positions both have a ways to go. The Beavers’ opener is Saturday the 31st against Idaho State.

A couple of more Ducks have landed on preseason award watch lists. Tight end Terrance Ferguson was selected to the John Mackey Award for tight ends, and offensive lineman Iapani Laloulu was named to the Rimington Trophy for outstanding center. Seattle blew out the Mets 12 to 1 yesterday to sweep them out of T-Mobile Park and get back into a tie with Houston for the AL West. Luis Castillo went 6 innings giving up four hits and the only New York run. The only New York run of the weekend. Cal Raleigh homered. Julio Rodriguez returned to the line-up for the first time in over three weeks. Now the Mariners have Detroit in for a midweek series starting tomorrow. 

San Francisco fell 5 to 4 to the Tigers yesterday, failing to get the sweep. Hayden Birdsong gave up all five runs in four and a third for the loss. Matt Chapman knocked in three runs. The Giants have won seven of their last 10 though, to stay 2 games over .500 and still in the wild card conversation. Tonight they welcome Atlanta who is also in the wild card chase,for the first of a four game serie, starting at 6:45.

Elks Host WCL Playoff Game Saturday...Ducks QB Gabriel - O'Brien Award Watchlist

Local: 

The Elks couldn’t get the sweep of Wenatchee last night, but Bend hosts the first game in the southern divisional playoffs tomorrow night at 6:35 from Vince Genna stadium. 

The Haulin’ Aspen all-trail marathon, half marathon and 6.5-mile “Half As” is on the Deschutes National Forest tomorrow at Wanoga Sno-Park.

College Football: 

Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel is on the preseason watchlist for the Davey O’Brien quarterback award. San Francisco broke open a tie game in the 10th with 4 runs to take a 9 to 5 victory over Washington and earn the four-game series win. The Giants are back home to take on the Tigers for a weekend series starting tonight at 7:15

Seattle avoided the series sweep getting by Detroit 4 to 3 last night. In the bottom of the 9th down 3 to 1 Mitch Haniger hit a walk-off bases clearing double to send the Ms into their weekend series with the Mets. First pitch from T-Mobile Park is at 7:10  tonight. 

NFL:

The Defending NFC Champion 49ers aren’t likely to play many of the players that took them to last year’s Super Bowl. San Francisco gets ready for Tennessee in the preseason opener tomorrow with the Brandon Aiyuk trade situation still hanging over them. For the most part coaches will be looking for who will fill out the 53-man roster. Kick off is at 4 tomorrow in Nashville.

The Seahawks will likely play more starters tomorrow under new head coach Mike Macdonald… than they previously had under former coach Pete Carroll. Although quarterback Geno Smith is not expected to play, giving Sam Howell and PJ Walker more snaps to compete to be Smith’s back-up.  Seattle plays the LA Chargers tomorrow in their first preseason game. Kick-off is at 4:05

Soccer: 

It’s Match day for the Portland Timbers playing in the Round of 32 in the Leagues Cup. They face St Louis starting at 5:30.

Bend North LL Falls in NW Regionals...Elks Go For Sweep in Season Finale

The Elks were 8 to 7 winners over Wenatchee last night. Bend goes for the sweep in the regular-season finale tonight. First pitch against the Applesox is at 6:35.

Elks Win...Bend North LL Goes Against Puyallup, WA

The Seahawks have reportedly signed center Connor Williams to a one-year deal. The veteran is coming off ACL surgery but should be able to help the offensive line if he’s healthy. Seattle plays the LA Chargers Saturday in their first preseason game.

The 49ers practice didn’t have a Brandon Auiyuk sighting yesterday. Several other veterans had a scheduled rest day. San Francisco will gradually ramp up drills as they get ready for Tennessee in the preseason opener Saturday.

Bend North LL Plays Wa LL in Loser Out Tomorrow

Local: 

The Bend North Little League team lost to Eagle, Idaho in the semifinal of the Northwest Regional last night  in San Bernardino, California. Now Bend plays Puyallup, Washington tomorrow at noon, for a chance to play Idaho again for a shot to go to the Little League World Series.

 

The Elks welcome Wenatchee to town for the final series of the regular season. First pitch against the Applesox is at 6:35.

College Football: 

Oregon comes in at number three in the preseason Coaches Poll, their highest ranking in that poll since 2013, and the first time in the top 10 since 2020. Three other Big 10 teams join the Ducks in the top 10. Also yesterday, quarterback Dillon Gabriel was put on the watch list for the 2024 Walter Camp Player of the Year award. The Elks dropped into 4th place in the south division after getting swept in Corvallis over the weekend. Wenatchee is town for a midweek series starting tomorrow. First pitch against the Knights is at 6:35.

At the Portland Classic Redmond amateur Yvonne Vinceri didn’t make the cut, nor did several notable pros get to play into the weekend at the LPGA event at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

The Bend North Little League team is in the semifinal of the Northwest Regional of the Little League World Series in San Bernardino, California. The Oregon champs beat Anchorage, Alaska 6-2 Saturday. Bend plays Eagle, Idaho on ESPN at 6 pm tonight for a chance to go to the Northwest Final.

Redmond's Vinceri -1 LPGA Portland Classic...Elks Back In Bend Tonight

Local: 

Bend dropped the series finale to the Drifters 4 to 2 last night. The Elks are now tied for third place in the south division with Corvallis. And that’s who comes into Vince Genna stadium for a weekend series starting tonight. First pitch against the Knights is at 6:35.

In round one of the Portland Classic yesterday Redmond amateur Yvonne Vinceri shot a one under 71, that’s tied for 78th out of 143 places, 8 shots off the lead at the LPGA event at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.  Vinceri tees off in round 2 at 2:16 this afternoon.

The North Bend Little League baseball team plays in the Northwest Regional of the Little League World Series tomorrow against Alaska. The game will be on ESPN+ at 6 pm.

Oregon DB Jabbar Muhammad earned more preseason recognition as the senior transfer from Washington was named to the watch list for the Jim Thorpe Award, for the best defensive back.
