Trail Blazers Lose To Knicks

NBA:  

The Trail Blazers took a lead into halftime at Madison Square Garden but couldn’t hold on falling to the Knicks 110 - 93 yesterday afternoon. Deni Avdija led all scorers with 33 points. The Blazers go to Atlanta tomorrow with seven games left in the regular season.

 

MLB opening:
The Giants won in Cincinnati yesterday to take the series from the Reds. San Francisco travels to Houston to start a midweek series with the Astros today at 5:10.

The Mariners split the series beating the Athletics yesterday. Detroit is at T-Mobile park tonight. First pitch is at 6:40

 

College Baseball:

Number 5 Oregon State lost their series at Nebraska after losing yesterday. 

Number 10 Oregon lost yesterday in Columbus, Ohio to drop their first series of the season.

 

Softball: 

The number 6 Oregon Ducks clobbered Rutgers in their two game series scoring 42 runs.

Soccer:

The Portland Thorns played a scoreless draw with North Carolina…the Portland Timbers notched a 3 - 1 win in Houston .

Trail Blazers Lose To Kings

NBA:  

The Trail Blazers ran into a buzz saw in Sacramento last night. The Kings’ shooting was red hot and Portland was cold. Final score 128 - 107. Deni Avdija led the way with 24, Anfernee Simons contributed 20, but other players struggled to get going. So, the 9 seed is not happening for the play-in game…there was only a small percent chance of that anyway. Next up is a trip to Madison Square Garden to face the Knicks Sunday afternoon.

Trail Blazers Visit Kings Tonight

NBA:  

The Trail Blazers are fighting for a play-off spot…meanwhile in Milwaukee Damian Lillard is out indefinitely with a blood clot in his calf. Dame has struggled with lower body injuries the past few years. The young Blazers team has been entertaining in this final stretch of the season. They’re back on the road for a quick two-game trip.  Sacramento is currently in 9th place, just a few games ahead of Portland for a play-in spot. Tip-off against the Kings is at 7.

 

MLB:
The Season starts for Seattle and San Francisco.

The Giants are at Cincinnati for a two-game series. Logan Webb takes the mound for SF. First Pitch is today at 1:10.

The Mariners have the Athletics at T-Mobile park for a four-game opening set. Logan Gilbert gets the honors to start. First pitch is at 7:10

The Trail Blazers closed out their homestand with a loss.

NBA:  

The Trail Blazers fell to Cleveland last night 122 - 111. Portland led early on but the Cavs took the lead into the half and never let it go. Donovan Clingan had another big game with 18 points and 12 rebounds but much of his damage was done in the first half. Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson had 18 apiece. So the Blazers are three games behind the Suns for 10 place and that play-in spot. Next up it's on the road starting tomorrow in Sacramento.

 

College Baseball:

College Hoops:
Reports say forward Michael Rataj will leave Oregon State  to enter the transfer portal. The Beavers are getting ready to play in the inaugural College Basketball Crown in Las Vegas on April 1.

Celts Snap Blazers Streak...UO Men, Women, OSU Women Out Of NCAAs

NBA:  

The Trail Blazers snapped their four game win streak yesterday going down to Boston 129 - 116. Portland didn’t play bad; Shaedon Sharpe scored 23 leading 5 scorers in double figures…but could never recover after falling behind in the first quarter. The Blazers are two and a half games out of the play-in spot.  Root for Damian Lillard and the Bucks to beat Phoenix tonight. Cleveland is at Moda Center tomorrow

College Basketball: NCAA Tournament Round of 32 

The Oregon men came up short against Arizona last night losing 87 - 83 in in Seattle. The Ducks opened the game on a 19 - 4 run but the Wildcats finished the first half leading by four. Oregon’s season ends in the tournament’s second round. 

The Oregon Women gave Duke a scare yesterday but eventually fell to the number 2 seed 59 - 53. The Ducks kept it close most of the game and pushed the home team Blue Devils into the closing minutes.

The 14 seed Oregon State Women lost Saturday in the First round to 3 seed North Carolina.

College Baseball:

Number 6 Oregon State took down Cal Poly yesterday to take two of three in San Luis Obispo. The Beavers play Washington tomorrow.

Number 9 Oregon won the rubber match of their three-game series against Rutgers in Eugene yesterday for another Big 10 series win.

Softball: 

Oregon State swept Montana in three games in Missoula.

Number 8 Oregon got a three game sweep of Illinois.

No. 6 OSU Wins, No. 8 Ducks B1G Pitcher Honors.

NBA:  

The Trail Blazers are 30 and 39, 3 games out of the play-in spot. Memphis visits Moda Center tonight. The Grizzlies won’t have star guard Ja Morant, out with injury. The Blazers may not have Toumani Camara who got dinged up in the win against Washington. He’s questionable. Jerami Grant is Doubtful again. Tip-off is tonight at 7.

College Baseball:

Midweek Matchups: 

Number 6 Oregon State cruised to a 7 - 3 win over Rutgers yesterday in Corvallis. The Beaver home stand finishes at 9 - 0, out-scoring their opponents, 61-17. OSU goes to Cal Poly Friday in San Luis Obispo.

Number 9 Oregon has Rutgers in Eugene for a Big 10 series Friday. The squad picked up some player accolades this week with starting pitcher Collin Clarke named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. The Ducks' right-hander did not allow an earned run on just three hits while matching a career high in both strikeouts (8) and innings pitched (7.0) in a win over Minnesota last weekend.

Softball: 

Oregon State lost to Rutgers 4- 2

Number 8 Oregon had Katie Flannery named the Big Ten Player of the Week.  The sophomore was 9-for-13 with a double, a triple, four home runs, and scored nine runs to help the Ducks beat Washington in its opening Big Ten series over the weekend.

Blazers 3 Games Out of Play In...USGA Championships Coming to Sunriver

NBA:  

The Trail Blazers blew past the Wizards at Moda Center last night. The 112 - 97 final gave Portland its 30th win and put them 3 games out of the play in spot. Memphis Grizzlies visit tomorrow night.

College Basketball: 

The Oregon men are a number 5 seed set to play Friday against 12 seed Liberty in the NCAA tournament.  We’ll have coverage starting at 6:40 here on KBND. Tip-off is estimated to be 7:10 but likely a little later.

The 10 seed Oregon Women tip-off at 2:30 against 7 seed Vanderbilt Friday afternoon.

The Oregon State Women are a 14 seed playing 3 seed North Carolina Saturday at 1:30.

The Oregon State men's basketball team will compete in the inaugural College Basketball Crown in Las Vegas. The Beavers will open the tournament on April 1, when they take on UCF. Boise State, Arizona State, Washington State, and USC are among the 16 teams competing March 31st through April 6th.

College Baseball:

Midweek Matchups in Corvallis: Rutgers University made the cross-country trip with their baseball and softball teams. First pitches at 5:35 from Coleman Field and 6 from Kelly Field.

Beaver Baseball is up to number 6 in the D1 Baseball rankings, number 8 in the coaches poll, 9 in Perfect Game, the writers rank them 10th and 11th in Baseball America.

Oregon is 9th in D1 and the Coaches, 11th in the writers, 13th in Baseball America and 14th by Perfect Game. The Ducks are off until Friday when they start a conference series against Rutgers.

Softball: 

Number 8 Oregon was rained out yesterday vs Seattle U

Local: 

Sunriver Resort will be the site of four USGA championships, beginning with the 2027 and 2028 U.S. Adaptive Opens. The 2031 U.S. Mid-Amateur and 2036 U.S. Junior Amateur are also on the slate. It will be the first US Golf Association Championship since 2007.

NBA:  

Portland stopped the five game losing streak with a thrilling comeback victory against Toronto yesterday. It was a game-winning blocked shot by Matisse Thybulle who played his first game all season after returning from injury.  The 105 - 102 final puts the Blazers 10 games under .500…yet still in the play-in game conversation. Anfernee Simons led 4 players in double figure scoring with 22. Rookie center Donovan Clingan put in 5 points but contributed 14 rebounds to the effort. The Trailblazers have the Wizards at Moda Center tonight. Tip off at 7.

College Baseball:

They were battling the elements and the opposition in Corvallis and Eugene this weekend.

Number 8 Oregon State swept Grand Canyon University in its three-game series. The Beavers have won 9 straight.

Number 9 Oregon lost yesterday but won their series against Minnesota.

Softball: 

Number 8 Oregon won their series against Washington. The Ducks stay in Seattle to play Seattle U today at 3.

The Portland Thorns fell 3 -1 in their season opener to the KC Current.

The Portland Timbers gave up a late goal and played LA Galaxy to a 1- -1 draw yesterday.

Boys 5A Final Number 9 La Salle Prep outlasted 7th seed Summit in a wild finish to take the title.

5A Girls, Redmond finished 5th.

In 4A Crook County Boys finish 4th.

College Basketball:

The number 23 ranked Oregon men pulled away in the 2nd half to take out Indiana 72 -59. Now the 8th seeded Ducks face number one seed Michigan State in the Big 10 quarterfinals. The Spartans are ranked number 7 in the country. Coverage starts at 8:30. Tip-off is at 9 this morning here on KBND.

NBA:  

Portland's losing streak is now 5. This isn’t like the usual slide though. This young team is showing glimpses of what it one day hopes to be. Right now it makes for exciting basketball at least. The Blazers are off until Sunday when Toronto visits for an afternoon tip-off.

College Baseball:

Number 8 Oregon State takes on Grand Canyon University for a three-game series starting today at 5:35

Number 9 Oregon hosts their first Big 10 series starting today at 4:05  against Minnesota.

Softball: 

Number 8 Oregon heads to Seattle for a series against Washington.

Oregon State’s series is canceled against Sacramento State.

Boys Quarterfinals -in 5A, 1 seed Caldera was upset by number 9 La Salle Prep, 7th seed Summit advances to the Semifinals to take on Canby tonight.

In 4A Crook County Boys and Girls both play consolation games today.

Blazers Entertaining But Fall in OT...Ducks MBB Tips in B10 Tourney

NBA:  

The Knicks got all they wanted in Portland last night. The Trail Blazers took them to the wire but the home team went down 114 - 113 in Overtime. The game featured 42 lead changes. Scoot Henderson scored 30 including a wild but clutch 3 late in regulation. The losing streak is now 5 though. They’ll have a stretch to regroup as they’re off until Sunday.

College Basketball:

The number 23 ranked Oregon men are in Indianapolis for their first Big Ten tournament. The 8th seeded Ducks are slight favorites over the 9 seed Indiana Hoosiers. Coverage starts at 8:30. Tip-off is at 9 this morning here on KBND.

College Baseball:

Number 8 Oregon State needed a 2-run go-ahead home run in the 7th to get by Washington State 4-3 yesterday. 

Number 9 Oregon bounced back after Tuesday’s low scoring loss to plate 16 runs on 16 hits against Grand Canyon University yesterday. 

The Antelopes head to Corvallis for a weekend series against the Beavers starting tomorrow. 

The U of O hosts their first Big 10 series starting tomorrow against Minnesota.

Local: 

High School Hoops…The OSAA State tournament had an IMC battle. 5A Girls. 4 seed Redmond put in a last second basket to escape 5th seed Summit. The Panthers move on to the Semifinals to play Crater tomorrow.

Boys Quarterfinals - In 4A - 4 Seed Crook County plays 5 seed Baker, and in 5A, 1 seed Caldera on a quest for its first state title goes against 9 La Salle Prep, and 7th seed Summit… trying to make a back to back title run plays number 2 Thurston.

Girls Quarters has 8 seed Crook County playing number 1 Philomath in 4A .

OSU Women headed to NCAA Tourney

College Basketball:

The Oregon State Women are champions of the West Coast Conference Tournament and heading to the NCAA Tournament. The Beavers continued their upset run as the 4 seed to knock off number 2 Portland 59-46 in yesterday’s championship game. OSU was likely to get an at-large tournament bid.

The number 23 ranked Oregon men are in Indianapolis ahead of tomorrow’s Big Ten tournament match up against Indiana. The 8th seeded Ducks are slight favorites over the 9 seed Hoosiers. Tip-off is at 9 tomorrow morning here on KBND.

College Baseball:

Number 8 Oregon State crushed Washington State 15 -1 yesterday. A nine run fourth inning did much of the damage. Catcher Wilson Weber had 6 RBI. The two game series against the Cougars finishes this afternoon. First pitch from Goss Stadium is at 3. 

Number 9 Oregon allowed 3 runs in the 7th inning and one in the 8th and lost 4 -2 to Grand Canyon University yesterday. The Ducks will try to salvage the midweek series this afternoon starting at 4:05 from Eugene.

NBA:  

The Knicks are in Portland tonight as the Trail Blazers will try to stop their 4 game losing streak against the Eastern Conference 3rd place team. Tip off against New York is at 7.

Local: 

High School Hoops…The OSAA State tournament continues today with 5A Girls. 4 seed Redmond plays 5th seed Summit at 3:15 this afternoon

 

OSU Women Last Second Win

Portland made a first half blow out competitive in the second half but still lost by 10 to the Warriors last night. The 130 - 120 final has the Trail Blazers leaving Golden State at 28 - 39 and 5 games out of playoff contention. Deni Avdija led the Blazers with 34 points. Rookie Donovan Clingan also put in another solid performance; 15 points, 9 rebounds. 

It's back to the Moda Center for the Knicks tomorrow night..

College Basketball:

The Oregon State Women hit a last second shot to knock off Gonzaga 63-61 yesterday in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament. The Beavers play Portland in the championship game today at 1.

College Baseball:

Number 8 Oregon State plays Washington State today and tomorrow. First pitch from Corvallis at 5:35 today. 

Number 9 Oregon plays Grand Canyon University today and tomorrow. First pitch has been moved up to 4:05 from PK Park due to forecasted poor weather.

Those are the D1 Baseball poll rankings. The two teams are next to each other in most of this week’s rankings. 

The Beavers and Ducks are ranked 11 and 12 respectively in the Baseball America poll. The coaches slot the Ducks 10th ahead of the Beavs 11th. The biggest discrepancy is the writers with OSU at 8th and the Ducks at 12th.

College Softball:

Number 12 Oregon tied a school record with 20 RBI in their 22 - 4 win over Abilene Christian University yesterday. 

Local: 

The U.S. Collegiate Ski & Snowboard National Championships are at Mt. Bachelor on now through the 15th

Ducks MBB Beats Hoosiers...No. 10 UO Baseball Wins...OSU Spring Football

NBA:  

Portland is 4 -1 on the road trip and are at Boston today. The Eastern Conference 2nd place Celtics have been resting since a Sunday win over Denver.

Yesterday forward Toumani Camara was named Western Conference defensive player of the mont for February. The Trail Blazers come in four games out of the play in spot at 28 - 34.

Tip off today is at 4.

College Basketball:

The Oregon men pulled away in the closing minutes last night and finished the game on a 10 - 0 run to get a 73 - 64 win against Indiana. The Ducks winning streak is now six in a row, and puts them in 7th place in the Big 10 with the regular season finale Sunday against Washington.

Number 10 Oregon cruised by Utah Tech yesterday in a 15 - 0 shutout.

Softball:

Oregon moved up to number 12 in both polls.

College Football:

Oregon State opened spring practice yesterday. Head coach Trent Bray mentioned there were a lot of new faces, both on the team and the coaching staff. The 2nd year head coach said getting familiarity will be important over the course of Spring ball. Bray identified transfer quarterback Maalik Murphy as one of the newcomers that should make an impact this Fall.
