Ducks, Huskies Football To Face Off

SPORTS 11-26

CFB:

Oregon is now ranked number 6 in the College Football Playoff poll, with committee officials noting the Ducks statement win over USC playing a part in moving ahead of idle Ole Miss.  The Ducks go to Seattle in the new Big 10 season-ending rivalry game with the Huskies.

The U of O is around a touchdown favorite. A win combined with an Ohio State loss at Michigan gets the Ducks in the Big 10 title game.

Oregon State heads to Washington State with a 1 – 0 lead in the Pac 2. One of two wins on the Beavs season.

The Cougars are favored by almost two touchdowns Saturday afternoon.

 

NBA:

The Trailblazers are 8 – 10 after taking a quick swing to Milwaukee to grab a Dub on the Bucks. They’re back at Moda Center tonight for an NBA Cup group stage game against San Antonio. The Blazers are 2 – 1 in the so-called Group of Death. But they have a simple mission: Beat the Spurs, and Portland advances to the knockout stage. Tipoff is at 7.

 

CBB: 

The Players Era Festival concludes today in Las Vegas.   Oregon lost 97-80 to San Diego State last night.  Jackson Shelstad scored 21 points in the loss for the Ducks.   Oregon will wrap up their tournament slate Thursday against Creighton.  Tip-off at 11 on KBND!

The Oregon Women are now 7 – 0 after handling St Mary’s yesterday in the Hoopfest Women's Challenge in Frisco, Texas where they meet Old Dominion tomorrow morning.

HS playoffs: 

5A Football Finals - Number 1 seed Summit play 2nd seed Silverton Friday night at Hillsboro High School.

Thanksgiving fun runs tomorrow morning: Redmond Turkey Trot at Juniper Golf course and I Like Pie Run/Walk at Riverbend Park.

CFB:

Oregon State interim head coach Robb Akey met with members of the media in Corvallis yesterday getting ready for the final week of practice ahead of their second meeting with Washington State Saturday. He sidestepped questions on who of the three potential players could start at quarterback.

While Akey is not among the handful of names rumored to be in the running to be OSU’s next head coach he did say he would like to be a head coach again.

 

Number 5 Oregon is getting ready for Washington week. Head Coach Dan Lanning asked about the rivalry game implications said he knows it’s important to beat the Huskies noting his struggles early in his tenure in Eugene. That’s aside from the larger landscape where the Ducks need a convincing win to make a pitch for a playoff seeding. Of course, Lanning wouldn’t speculate about anything beyond the game up in Seattle.

 

The coach also gave ringing endorsements for his coordinators Tosh Lopoi and Will Stein for any head coaching jobs. The two and other Ducks assistants have been linked to several open positions across the country.

NBA:

The Trailblazers jumped out to a big lead in Milwaukee and hung on to win 115 – 103 to get to 8 – 10 on the season. Jerami Grant led all scorers with 35 points, Donovan Clingan notched a 14-point, 11 rebound double-double. The Blazers are back home tomorrow for an NBA Cup group stage game against San Antonio.

 

NFL:

Seattle hopes to get defensive players Julian love and Ernest Jones back this week against Minnesota.

 

CBB: 

The Oregon State men went 0 - 3 at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands after losing 73 – 65 against UMass.

 

The Oregon Men suffered their first loss of the season in Las Vegas in game one of the Players Era Festival going down 84 – 73 to number 21-ranked Auburn yesterday afternoon. Game 2 is tonight against San Diego State. Coverage starts at 7:30 on KBND, tip off at 8 pm.

 

The 6 – 0 Oregon Women play 5 – 1 St Mary’s this morning at 11:30 in the Hoopfest Women's Challenge in Frisco, Texas.

CFB:

Oregon impressed voters and broke past its tie with idle Ole Miss to move up to number 5 in the latest Associated Press poll after Saturday’s 42 - 27 victory over now number 19 USC.

 

The Ducks finish the regular season in Seattle Saturday for the 118th meeting against the Washington Huskies. Kick-off will be 12:30.

NBA:

The Trailblazers were the last team to beat Oklahoma City but last night the defending champs avenged that single loss, racing out to an early lead in Portland and taking a 122 to 95 victory. Jerami Grant led the team with 21 points. The Blazers go to Milwaukee today. Tip off against the Bucks is 5 pm.

 

NFL:

Seattle hung on for a tough road win over the Titans yesterday. The Seahawks 30 - 24 win in Tennessee gets them to 8 – 3.

The 49ers host Monday night Football as a touchdown pick over Carolina.

Kick off at Levi Stadium is 5:15.

 

CBB: 

The Oregon State Women beat Long Beach State 71 - 55 to get to 5  - 1.

The Oregon Women took out Utah State 70 - 34 to remain undefeated at 6 - 0.

 

The Oregon State men are 0 - 2 at the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. After a double overtime loss to Iona Saturday the Beavers have a game against UMass starting this afternoon on the island but at 9:30 our time this morning.

 

The 4 - 0 Oregon Men are in Las Vegas for the Players Era Festival to play number 22-ranked Auburn this afternoon. Game coverage starts at 4:30 on KBND, tip off at 5 pm.

 

LOCAL

HS playoffs: 

5A Football Semifinals - Number 1 seed Summit got past a scrappy Churchill team to reach the state final where the Storm will play 2nd seed Silverton this Friday night. The Foxes defeated short-handed Mountain View in the other semi-final.

Oregon Number 7 In CFP Rankings

SPORTS 11-19

CFB:

The University of Oregon moved up one spot in the College Football Playoff rankings for the second week in a row, coming in at number 7 with two weeks left in the regular season.

The Ducks (9-1 overall, 6-1 Big Ten) have number 15 USC (8-2 overall, also 6-1 Big Ten) visiting Autzen Stadium Saturday.

It’s a big game Oregon who need to win out and in convincing fashion to make a case for being one of the at-large teams to make the 12-team playoff. Iowa dropped out of the rankings, hurting the Duck’s strength of schedule.

Also, Senior Luke Basso was named a semifinalist for the 2025 Patrick Mannelly Award, which is given annually to the best long-snapper in college football.

The OSU women beat Utah State yesterday.

The Oregon Women play Washington State today at 4.

 

NFL:

The 49ers will have an extra day to get players healthy as they get ready for the surging Carolina Panthers Monday night.

Seattle is traveling to Nashville this week, looking for a get-right game against the struggling Titans.

 

NBA:

The Trail Blazers dropped their third game in a row.  Portland lost 127-110 to the Phoenix Suns at home.  Shaedon Sharpe scored a team-high 29 points in the setback.  The Blazers will wrap up their brief, two-game homestand tonight against the Chicago Bulls.

CFB:

Number 6 Oregon will have 16th ranked USC at Autzen Saturday afternoon.

Head coach Dan Lanning told the media at his press conference the Trojans would be a great challenge. He also mentioned the excitement for the campus with ESPN College Gameday returning Saturday morning.

Lanning sidestepped a question about today’s playoff ranking saying the team was focused only on this week’s game.

CBB:

Ducks and Beavers men playing in Collegiate Basketball’s most contested rivalry in Eugene last night.  Oregon got their 9th straight win over OSU after pulling away in the closing minutes. Final 87 - 75.

The OSU women play Utah State today at 11.

 

NBA:

The Trailblazers are 6 – 7 after struggling on last week’s five-game road trip. The team announced yesterday center Yang Hansen would return from his G League assignment with the Rip City Remix. The rookie spent two games with the Remix after not cracking the Blazers line-up since Robert Williams III returned last month from injury. Yang should be available to play tonight.

Point guard Jrue holiday is doubtful with calf soreness. He was out Sunday.

Phoenix comes to the Moda Center tonight. Tipoff is at 8 as it’s the national broadcast on NBC.

 

NFL:

Seattle expects rookie guard Grey Zabel to miss this week’s game after injuring his knee late in the loss to the Rams, but apparently, it’s not too significant. Coach Mike Macdonald called Zabel day to day.

The 49ers have kicker Eddy Pineiro week-to-week with a hamstring injury.

 

MLB:

The Mariners made it official on the free agent signing of first baseman Josh Naylor. The team reports the deal goes through the 2030 season. Naylor was acquired via trade at the deadline last summer.

CFB:

Oregon is tied for number 6 with Texas Tech in the Associated Press poll this week after the win over Minnesota Friday night. The Ducks will have 16th ranked USC at Autzen Saturday afternoon. ESPN College Game Day will also be broadcasting their pregame show from Eugene that morning for the second visit this season.

Oregon State may have another quarterback competition ahead of the final game of the season Saturday the 29th. True freshman Tristan Ti’a was a bright spot in the 31 - 14 loss to Tulsa.

 

NBA:

The Trailblazers stayed ahead of the Mavericks for much of the game yesterday but couldn’t hold on to a lead into the 4th quarter and lost in overtime in Dallas 138 – 133. Shaedon Sharpe led the team with a season-high 36 points. The Blazers were shorthanded again, this time playing without point guard Jrue Holiday. It was a rough five game road trip with the team going 1 – 4.

Phoenix comes to the Moda Center tomorrow night.

 

NFL: NFC West weekend part 2:

The 49ers handled business in Arizona outscoring the Cardinals 41 – 22. San Francisco goes to 7 – 4 with quarterback Brock Purdy returning to form after recovering from a toe injury.

 

Seattle got down early to the Rams and couldn’t complete the comeback missing a potential game winning field goal try at the end of the game. The 21 – 19 loss sends the Seahawks to 7 – 3 a game behind Los Angeles in the division one game ahead in the loss column to the 49ers.

 

CBB:

The Oregon Women blew out Army last night.

The OSU women had a nice win over Illinois Friday.

MLB:
Seattle signed free-agent Josh Naylor to a five-year contract. The first baseman came up clutch helping the Mariners clinch the Al West, and during the post-season run.

Central Oregon Community College is holding its 26th annual Turkey Trot fun-run scholarship fundraiser, a 5K run/walk, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Bend campus’s track, preceded by the 4th annual Toddler Trot.

Blazers Beat Pelicans

SPORTS 11-13

NBA:

The Trailblazers pulled out the win in New Orleans yesterday. The 125 – 117 final snapped the two game losing streak, and gave Portland their first win of this five game road trip. Jerami Grant was ejected in the 2nd quarter for fighting with a Magic player. Shaedon Sharpe was the game high scorer with 35, while Deni Avdija dumped in 32. The Blazers head to Texas to close out the road trip, starting in Houston Friday with an NBA Cup group stage matchup with the Rockets.

 

CBB:

The Oregon men took down a scrappy South Dakota State squad 83 – 69 last night. Guard Jackson Shelstad scored 22 points for the Ducks in his second game back from a long-term injury. The Ducks get to 3 - 0

 

The OSU men’s team is also 3 – 0 although not without some help from a  North Texas team that called a time-out in the final seconds when they didn’t have one. The Beavers made two technical foul free throws to win 66 – 64 to cap a comeback victory.

CFB:

Number 8 Oregon is preparing for tomorrow night’s game against Minnesota. 
Another day, another awards recognition.

Quarterback Dante Moore was named a semifinalist for both the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.

CFP Rankings Release

SPORTS 11-12

CFB:

Oregon moved up one spot to number 8 in the second release of the College Football Playoff rankings. 
The Ducks, 8-1 overall, 5-1 Big Ten are coming off a 2-point road win over Iowa, which moved down just one spot to number 21 this week. 
The Ducks will host number 17 USC next Saturday, Nov. 22, but first a Friday night matchup against Minnesota. 

Linebacker Bryce Boettcher was announced as a semifinalist for the Burlsworth Trophy. Boettcher won the award as junior last season for the nation's most outstanding player who began his career as a walk-on.

And quarterback Dante Moore is a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, for the most outstanding player.

Oregon State offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf says matching the intensity of the Tulsa defense will be important this week for the offensive line.

The Golden Hurricane are 2 – 7 overall.

 

NBA:

The Trailblazers’ road trip continues in New Orleans this afternoon. Portland has lost two straight dropping the season record to 5 – 5. The Pelicans are off to a slow start, opening the season at 2 – 8. Tipoff is at 5.

 

CBB:

The Oregon women easily handled Grand Canyon last night. The Ducks get to 3-0 for the 11th consecutive season.

The Oregon men play South Dakota State tonight at Matthew Knight Arena with coverage starting at 6 on KBND.

The OSU men’s team is 2 – 0 with North Texas visiting Gill Coliseum tonight.

NBA:
The Trailblazers couldn’t complete the comeback in the 4th quarter and lost at the buzzer 115 – 112 in Orlando last night. Shaedon Sharpe scored 31 in the effort. The loss drops Portland to 5 – 5. The road trip continues in New Orleans tomorrow afternoon.

 

CFB:
Oregon State head coach Robb Akey says the team is putting the loss to Sam Houston State behind them.
OSU goes to Tulsa Saturday.

7th ranked Oregon got out of Iowa with a win thanks to the foot of Atticus Sappington. Yesterday the redshirt senior was named the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week. Sappington was a career-high three for three including a season-long 46 yards, and the 39-yard game winner, accounting for 10 of the Ducks 18 points.
Head coach Dan Lanning wouldn’t give an update during his media session yesterday on players returning against Minnesota Friday but complimented the guys who were able to go, and said those injured are working to get back on the field, even with a shorter week of practice.
The new college football playoff rankings will be released later today.

CBB: 
The Oregon State women took down Air Force last night. They go to 2 – 0 on the season and will get a test against Illinois on Friday in Corvallis.

The Oregon women look to keep its strong start going as the Ducks host Grand Canyon at Matthew Knight Arena at 6 tonight.
The Ducks look to get to 3-0 for the 11th consecutive season.

The OSU men’s team has the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Guard Josiah Lake II earned the honor after getting a career high 22 points in the Beavers win last Friday. North Texas visits Gill Coliseum tomorrow night.
 

KBND Sports

SPORTS 11-10

CFB:

Oregon slipped a spot to number 7 in the latest AP Poll after the 2-point victory in Iowa City Saturday. The Ducks escaped with an 18 – 16 victory thanks to a last second field goal. Associated Press voters downgraded Iowa out of the Top 25.

It’s back to Eugene for a Friday night game this week.

They are still scratching their heads in Corvallis after the inexplicable loss to the previously winless Sam Houston State Bearkats Saturday.  Oregon State outgained Sam Houston 474 yards to 157 but was shutout in the second half giving up a 17 – 7 half time lead and falling 21 – 17.

OSU goes to Tulsa Saturday.

 

NBA:

The Trailblazers couldn’t keep up with Miami Saturday losing 136 – 131 after getting down in the second quarter. The 5 – 4 Blazers are in Orlando tonight to take on the Magic starting at 4. Portland is playing shorthanded; guard Shaedon Sharpe suited up Saturday but is hampered with a calf pain.

 

The Portland Trail Blazers have announced a new set of commemorative glasses featuring six players. They'll be available to the first five-thousand fans at select games starting with a Jerami Grant glass at the November 19th game against the Chicago Bulls. The first set of glassware was introduced in the 1990s with another set in 2013 and then in 2024.

 

NFL:

San Francisco got down early, rallied, but couldn’t keep going with the Rams losing 42 - 26 dropping to 6 - 4.

 

In Seattle, the Seahawks jumped out to a big lead over Arizona in the first quarter leading 21 – 0 thanks to some big defensive plays. The 44 – 22 final gives the ‘hawks their 4th straight win; the 7 – 2 record is identical with the Rams. That will change next Sunday when the teams meet at Los Angeles.

 

CBB:

The Oregon State women play Air Force at 6 pm from Gill Coliseum.

 

Soccer Playoffs:

The Portland Thorns scored a late goal over San Diego to advance to the NWSL playoff semifinals against Washington next Saturday.

 

Local HS Playoffs:

Bend is the 5A state runner-up in Volleyball, Summit takes 4th. Trinity Lutheran is 4th place in 2A.


Cross Country – Caldera’s Maddie Carnie is the state champion, the school’s first in the sport. Summit took another 5A team title for the Girls.

On the boys side, Summit is 2nd place, and Bend 3rd.

 

Football 5A Mtn View, Summit, and 2A Culver advanced to the next round.

In Girls Soccer 5A Bend and Summit advanced, and in Boys 5A Summit; all play in the semi-finals tomorrow (Tue).

 

KBND Sports

SPORTS 11-5

CBB: 

The Oregon Men in their season opener lost a second half lead but hit a go-ahead lay-up in the closing seconds to hold-off Hawaii last night 60 - 59. The Ducks continue on the non-conference schedule against Rice Friday night.

 

CFB:

Oregon comes in at the number 9 spot in the first College Football Playoff rankings.

UO will have opportunities to get wins against three current CFP top-25 teams including this Saturday against number 20 Iowa, then it’s the final home game against No. 19 USC with the regular season finishing in Seattle against number 23 Washington.

The Ducks have appeared in each of the last 25 CFP top-25 rankings dating back to 2020.

Also yesterday, inside linebacker Bryce Boettcher was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award for the most outstanding linebacker, while outside linebacker Matayo Uiagalelei was named a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award for the top lineman or linebacker.

The 4- 3 Trailblazers have defending-champion Oklahoma City at the Moda center tonight. Portland will try to regroup after their defensive lapse in Monday’s loss to the Lakers. The Blazers have Shaedon Sharpe listed as probable with a sore calf. Tip off against the Thunder is at 7.

 

NFL:

The Seahawks are acquiring wide receiver Rashid Shaheed in a trade with the Saints. Seattle sent 2026 fourth- and fifth-round picks to New Orleans. The move helps the injury-depleted receiving corps. The Arizona Cardinals are at Lumen Field Sunday.

San Francisco couldn’t make a move at yesterday’s trade deadline. The 49ers tried to make deals for defensive help but ultimately didn’t pull the trigger according to reports.

Meanwhile the 9ers get ready for the Rams visit this Sunday.

Blazers Lose to the Lakers

SPORTS 11-4

NBA:

The Trailblazers snapped their win streak losing 123 – 115 to the Lakers. The loss sends the Blazers to 4 – 3. Deni Avdija poured in 33 but Los Angeles got hot late and pulled away.

Oklahoma City is at the Moda center tomorrow night.

 

CBB: Season Openers

The Oregon Women reached 100 points last night defeating West Georgia.

The Oregon State Men got a go-ahead layup with 2 seconds left to squeak by North Dakota State.

The Oregon Men play Hawaii tonight. Coverage starts at 7 on KBND. Tip-off is at 7:30.

 

CFB:

Oregon State interim head coach Robb Akey speaking at yesterday’s media availability told reporters quarterback Gabarri Johnson is expected to start again this week. Johnson suffered a foot injury during last weekend’s game but is cleared to practice this week.

Saturday is the final home game of the season with Sam Houston visiting.

 

Number 6 Oregon is on the road this Saturday afternoon at Iowa. Head Coach Dan Lanning talked about the Hawkeyes defense and big play ability during yesterday’s press conference. Lanning also mentioned several players should be back in the line-up this week after getting healthy during the bye.

MLB:

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh and manager Dan Wilson have been named finalists for American League Most Valuable Player and Manager of the Year by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Manager of the Year will be announced November 11th. MVP will be announced November 13th.

 

NFL:

San Francisco could make a move before today’s trade deadline to get some help for the decimated defense. It was confirmed yesterday rookie pass rusher Mykel Williams has a serious knee injury.

 

Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones IV may miss a game or two according to head coach Mike Macdonald. Jones left the game Sunday after hurting his knee. Macdonald says another checkup will be done tomorrow.

CFB:

Oregon State got a comeback win over Washington State after a missed field goal Saturday. The Beavers get their 2nd win on the season under interim head coach Robb Akey. While Gabarri Johnson started at quarterback, former starter Malik Murphy came on after Johnson was injured and had a clutch pass on the go-ahead drive in the 4th quarter. Running back Anthony Hankerson scored the touchdown on that drive in the 10 -7 win.

Saturday is the final home game of the season with Tulsa visiting.

 

Oregon maintained the number 6 ranking in the latest Associated Press poll. The first playoff rankings of the season will be released tomorrow so that will give us a look at what the playoff committee thinks of the Ducks 7 -1 record, 4 – 1 in the Big 10.

 

It’s on the road this Saturday afternoon. Iowa is also 4 – 1 in the Big 10 and  6 – 2 overall. The Hawkeyes were the top team mentioned in ‘also receiving votes’ in the AP poll, which saw the Washington Huskies debut at number 24.

NBA:

The Trailblazers are 4– 2 after a surprising win over the Nuggets Friday. The comeback gave Portland their third straight win.

The Lakers, also 4 – 2 and the team who the Blazers started their winning streak with visit Moda Center tonight. Tipoff is 7 pm.

 

CBB: regular season games start tonight.

The Oregon Women play West Georgia at 5 tonight.

The Oregon State Men play North Dakota State at 6:30.

 

NFL:

San Francisco handled the New York Giants in a 10 point win to get to 6 – 3.

The Seahawks are now 6 – 2 after a blowout of the Commanders.

 

Soccer Playoffs:

The Timbers evened the best of three series against FC San Diego. Final match to advance to the MLS Western semifinals is back in southern California Sunday.

The Portland Thorns will be at home in their first playoff match after securing the 3rd seed with a victory over Houston yesterday. The Thorns begin the NWSL playoff quarterfinals against the San Diego Wave this weekend.
