OSU Football Fires ST Coach Christian

SPORTS 10-6-25

CFB:

Oregon State has fired their special teams coach following Saturday’s loss at Appalachian State. Beavers head coach Trent Bray released a statement yesterday on the dismissal of Coach Jamie Christian reading in part ‘"Now is the right time to make a change in our football program.”

The loss dropped OSU to 0 – 6 but Athletic Director Scott Barnes believes the season can still be salvaged. The AD also released a statement yesterday noting high expectations are not being met, and he and coach Bray are reviewing every aspect of the program.

It’s homecoming Saturday against Wake Forest.

Oregon dropped a spot to 3rd in the Associated Press poll behind Miami. The Hurricanes climbing to number 2 isn’t a big surprise since they had a Top 25 win against Florida State. It may have also hurt Oregon’s strength of schedule when Penn State was upset by previously winless UCLA. The U of O remained ranked 2nd in the Coaches Poll.

The Ducks have number 7 Indiana at Autzen Saturday. ESPN College Game Day will broadcast their pre-game show from Eugene.

Ducks RB Hughes To Redshirt

SPORTS 10-2-25

MLB:

The Mariners now know potential start times for the American League Divisional series.

If the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees, the Mariners vs. the winner of Detroit vs Cleveland game will start at 1:08 p.m. at T-Mobile Park.

If the Yankees advance, Mariners vs. DET/CLE will start at 5:38 PM Saturday.

Game two of the ALDS in Seattle on Sunday will start at 5:03 p.m.

CFB:

The University of Oregon has granted running back Mahki Hughes his request to be redshirted this season. The pre-season All-American appeared in four games for the Ducks but was low on the depth chart due to a talented corps of runners led by upperclassmen Noah Whittington and Jayden Limar, along with standout freshman Dierre Hill Jr. who is the team’s leading rusher. Hughes was one of the more highly-touted transfers going to Eugene last season, and it’s not a foregone conclusion he will take his two years of eligibility elsewhere as his brother is a true-freshman defensive back who has played in all five games.

Oregon is on a bye this week prepping for number 8 Indiana Saturday October 11th.
