(Portland, OR)  --  The Trail Blazers have come to terms to extend their other star guard.  CJ McCollum signed a three-year, 100-million-dollar deal Tuesday, extending his current deal until 2024.  The total value of the contract is now worth 157-million-dollars.  The guard averaged 21 points per game last year, including 24.7 points per game in the playoffs after missing 11 of the final 12 games of the regular season with a knee injury.

(Undated)  --  Oregon will open camp Friday in Eugene while State will start Thursday in Corvallis.  The Ducks will open the season against the Auburn Tigers in Arlington, Texas on August 31st while the Beavers will open the season August 30th at Reser Stadium against Oklahoma State.  The Civil War will be at Autzen Stadium November 30th.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will be in front of the Wonderwall at Allianz Field Sunday when they face Minnesota United.  Portland resoundingly beat the LA Galaxy 4-nil at Providence Park on Saturday.  Portland has 31 points and are in seventh in the West.  United is fifth in the West with 35 points through 22 matches.

(Arlington, TX)  --  Kyle Seager homered and tripled in a pair in the seventh as the Mariners beat the Rangers 8-5 in Arlington.  Domingo Santa hit his 21st homer of the season in the first.  Mallex Smith picked up his 100th career stolen base in the fourth inning, and followed it up with number 101, when he stole third base in the same frame.  Mike Leake gave up five runs in five-and-two-thirds, but earned a no decision.  Sam Tuivailala picked up the win, his first of the year, in relief while Roenis Elias nailed down his 14th save.  The M's have won six-straight, tying their longest streak of the season.

(Arlington, TX)  --  The Mariners will go for a season-high seven-straight win tonight against the Rangers in Texas.  Opener Wade LeBlanc is scheduled to start for Seattle, who is 4-and-0 with a 2.86 ERA in his nine appearances to kick off the game.  Currently, all-star Mike Minor is scheduled to go for the Rangers.  He's 8-and-6 with a 3.00 ERA.  However, with the lefty being the topic of trade rumors, it is unclear if he'll still be with the team when the game begins.

(Arlington, TX)  --  Mariners skipper Scott Servais joined elusive company with Tuesday night's victory, becoming only the second manager in team history with 300 wins. He joins Lou Piniella, who won 840 games in his decade with the club from 1993 to 2002.  Servais is only the third manager in team's relatively short history to be at the helm for four or more seasons, joining Piniella and Darrell Johnson.

(Arlington, TX)  --  The M's are getting some support, even though it's only of the moral variety for now.  Dee Gordon, who has been out since July 23rd with a left quad strain, will rejoin the team in Houston this weekend.  Manager Scott Servais said the second baseman is feeling much better than expected, and if everything goes according to plan, will go out on a short rehab assignment next week.

(Renton, WA)  --  In what could have been big-time bad news for the Seahawks will only be slightly bad.  First-round draft pick LJ Collier suffered a high-ankle sprain at practice Tuesday.  He was carted off after limping to the sideline.  He was taken with the 29th overall pick out of Texas Christian in April's draft.

(Arlington, TX)  --  The Tampa Bay Rays interest on M's outfielder Domingo Santana has apparently cooled, the Seattle Times is reporting.  The MLB trade deadline is at noon local time today.  Santana's potential elbow problems have scared off Tampa, according to reports.

(Undated)  --  U.S. Women's National Soccer Team coach Jill Ellis is announcing she will be stepping down from her position in October.  U.S. Soccer announced Ellis will continue to coach the team during the five-game victory tour, starting this Saturday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California against Ireland.  Ellis is the first coach in history to win two women's World Cup titles.  The 52-year-old has an overall record of 102 wins, seven losses and 18 ties.  The organization says she will transition to the roll of an ambassador for the team for at least the next year.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will be without their backup keeper for the reason of the season. Jeff Attinella underwent surgery Monday to repair an anterior labrum tear in his right shoulder.  The 30 year old made 22 starts last season, helping Portland make a run to the MLS Cup Final.  He started 2019 as the starter, but has lost the position to Steve Clark.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers will visit Allianz Field and the Wonderwall when they face Minnesota United Sunday.  Portland resoundingly beat the LA Galaxy 4-nil at Providence Park on Saturday.  Portland has 31 points and are in seventh in the West.  The Loons drew with Vancouver Saturday nil-nil.  They're fifth in the west with 35 points through 22 matches.

(Portland, OR)  --  The preseason will be fast and furious, with the Trail Blazers playing five games over 10 days.  They will open up against Denver at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on October 8th in a throwback game, kicking a yearlong celebration of the club's 50th anniversary in the league.  They will also face Maccabi Haifa, the Suns, The Jazz, and the Nuggets a second time.

(Undated)  --  The two Pac-12 football teams will start practicing this week.  The Ducks open camp Friday in Eugene.  Oregon open the season against the Auburn Tigers in Arlington, Texas on August 31st.  Camp will open Thursday for the Beavers in Corvallis.  Oregon State will open the season August 30th at Reser Stadium against the Pokes of Oklahoma State.

(Arlington, TX)  --  At least one Mariner is drawing interest on the trade market.  The Indians and Rays are reportedly kicking the proverbial tires on outfielder Domingo Santana.  He has rebounded from a down year to hit .273 with 20 homers for the M's.  However, there could be an issue.  The Athletic reports the 26-year-old's right elbow has troubled him since the All-Star break and the team sought an MRI earlier in the week.

(Arlington, TX)  --  The Mariners look to extend their five-game winning streak tonight in Arlington against the Rangers.  Mike Leake will take the ball in the first of the two-game set.  The right-hander, who has been subject to trade rumors, is 9-and-8 with a 4.25 ERA, winning his last two starts.  Texas will counter with Ariel Jurado, who is 6-and-6.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Storm return from the All-Star break Friday at home against the Mystics.  Seattle begins the second half of the season at 12-and-9.  The Storm are third in the Western Conference.

(Chicago, IL)  --  After weeks of criticism, US Soccer is responding with a bombshell:  The women's national team players have made more than the men since 2010.  Federation President Carlos Cordeiro announced Monday the women's players were paid 34-million by the federation in salaries and bonuses between 2010 and 2018, while the men were paid 26-million dollars.  The number does not include monies paid by FIFA for World Cup bonuses, which would propel the men to 41-million-dollars while giving the women just an additional five-million.  These numbers do not include money from bonuses following the women's 2019 World Cup championship, but also the men did not receive a bonus for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as they did not qualify.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers got help across the board as they blanked the Galaxy 4-0 at home on Saturday.  Portland improves to 31 points on the season and has moved into seventh in the Western Conference.  The Timbers are currently in a playoff spot.  Portland will visit Minnesota United on Sunday.

(Eugene, OR)  --  The Oregon Ducks will begin preseason camp on Friday.  The Ducks will embark on a series of practices as they get ready for the upcoming season.  The Ducks open the season against the Auburn Tigers in Arlington, Texas on August 31st.

(Seattle, WA)  --  The Mariners are shipping out utility man Kristopher Negron to the Dodgers, according to reports.  Seattle is expected to receive minor league infielder Daniel Castro in return.  Castro has played 98 games at the MLB level over his career.

(Seattle, WA)  --  J.P. Crawford singled in Dylan Moore in the 10th inning as the Mariners walked off the Tigers 3-2 at home to finish the four-game sweep.  Seattle improves to 46-and-63.  The Mariners will hit the road to visit the Rangers tomorrow.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are keeping one of their pillars for the future.  Seattle and Bobby Wagner have agreed to a three-year extension, according to reports.  Wagner is expected to receive 54-million dollars over the life of his contract.  The linebacker has been a prominent figure in the defense since being drafted in 2012 and helped guide Seattle to its first Super Bowl.

(Seattle, WA)  --  In WNBA action, the Storm will host the Mystics on Friday.  Seattle begins the post-All-Star break at 12-and-9.  The Storm are third in the Western Conference.

(Renton, WA)  --  The Seahawks are bringing a familiar face home.  Seattle has re-signed defensive back DeShawn Shead.  He spent last season with the Lions after spending 2012-2017 with the Seahawks.

The bipartisan agreement will suspend the U.S. debt ceiling until the middle of 2021, eliminating the risk that the government could miss payments as early as September, a move that would have severe economic ramifications. It will also likely push the annual budget deficit for the U.S. above $1T next year, while Congress agrees on the details of the annual budget in separate appropriations bills to avert the possibility of a U.S. government shutdown. Lawmakers further decided that no "poison pills" could be attached to that legislation, such as funding for a border wall with Mexico, or a demand for President Trump's tax returns. (SA)

Apple is in advanced talks to buy Intel's smartphone modem-chip business, in what could be a major push toward developing the critical components powering its devices. An agreement could value a portfolio of patents and staff at $1B or more and could come in the next week. For Intel's part, the deal would allow the company to shed its smartphone operation, which has been losing about $1B annually and has generally failed to live up to expectations. (WSJ)

Coca-Cola  reported quarterly earnings and revenue this morning that beat analysts’ expectations, driven by sales of its namesake soda brand.  Net sales rose 6% to $10.00 billion for the quarter. The company attributed its strong performance during the quarter to 4% volume and transaction growth in Coke’s namesake brand. Its Zero Sugar line once again saw double-digit volume growth across the globe.  (CNBC)

The Bend Elks returned home to Westcoast League play last night and it was just one of those nights on the diamond where Bend pitchers would strike out 13 hitters, with just one error on the evening, and still lose.

And, lose big the Elks did as the Ridgefield Raptors took game-1 of a 3-game series, 14-to-3.

However, 4 Bend pitchers did combine to walk 11-batters, and give up three untimely extra base hits along with 4 RBI singles and that doomed the Elks in their return home to start a 6-game home stint.

Bend is 10-and-12 overall, and will bounce back tonight to redeem themselves against the Raptors at 6:35 for Free Kids Wednesday night, where kids are admitted free with one paid adult.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland Trail Blazers will be locking up star point guard Damian Lillard to a supermax extension, according to multiple reports.  The deal will be worth 196-million-dollars over four years.  The extension will kick in during the 2021-22 season.  Lillard earned All-NBA second team honors this season, which made him eligible for the supermax.  The point guard has made four NBA All-Star Games and led Portland to the Western Conference Finals this past season.

(Portland, OR)  --  The Timbers defeated FC Dallas in a 1-nil victory at Providence Park.  Brian Fernandez scored the only goal of the match for Portland in the win.  The Timbers improve to ninth in the MLS West with 20 points in 16 matches.  Portland will visit New York City FC Sunday.

(Portland, OR)  --  Trail Blazers' guard/forward Rodney Hood has re-signed with the team on a two-year deal.  Hood's deal is worth $5.7 million for the first season - which would use all of Portland's taxpayer mid-level exception - with a player option worth $6 million for the second year.  The guard, acquired by the Blazers at the trade deadline from the Cleveland Cavaliers, averaged 9.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 27 games with Portland.
